GOD’S PROMISE

Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 24, 2017 The lengthy passage from Samuel is a wonderful exposi-

tion of God’s promise to the house of David: that his throne

would forever be gloriously occupied by his descendants. Hid-

den in the mystery of the prophecy is the promise of the Savior,

the Messiah, Son of God and Son of David. The prophet Nathan,

speaking in God’s name, poetically turns around David’s plan to

build a house for God, and announces God’s plan to build a

“house,” that is, a dynasty for David. From this house of David

will come the Messiah, the Christ, not in kingly splendor as

David ruled, but as a humble man, destined to rule forever and

over all. When God gives a gift, it’s amazing what we are

given—so different from what we ever could have imagined. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc

Christmas Midnight Mass Proclamation

St. Meinrad Abbey

Some millions of years having passed since the creation of the world when in the beginning God created heaven and

earth. Some thousands of years since the salvation of the human family, when the family of Noah survived the

Flood. About nineteen centuries after the promise was given to Abraham, the father of our faith. Many ages after

Moses brought the people from bondage in Egypt. A thousand years from the anointing of David as king over the

chosen people. In fulfillment of the times, and years, and months, and days, discerned by the visions of the prophets.

In the course of secular history, in the one hundred and ninety-third Olympiad. Seven and one-half centuries from

the founding of the city of Rome, in the twentieth year in the reign of the Emperor Octavian Augustus, while the

whole world enjoyed a span of peace. In the sixth and final age of human achievement, wishing to consecrate the

whole world and all time by his blessed presence, Jesus Christ, eternal God, and Son of the Eternal Father conceived

as man by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit, after nine months of growth in the womb of his mother. Was born

of the Virgin Mary and for our salvation became a man in Bethlehem of Judah.

Now in our own times, this marks the birthday of our Lord Jesus Christ after the manner of all flesh.

From the desk of our pastor, Father Tony Neusch.

Father Tony,

I would like to begin by thanking you for coming and exalting me of my sins, I give thanks and praise to God for

you and also for the deacon who comes every Wednesday to spread the word of God with us here in Deaf Smith

County Jail.

I would also like to thank St. Anthony’s Catholic church for the delicious ham dinner we received today. It came as a

total surprise and I assure you St. Anthony’s Catholic Church put a lot of smiles in here in this time of trouble in

which most of us brought on ourselves. I would like to give back although in my current situation I only have

stamped envelopes, and prayers, and we prayed for all who prepared and provided the food so now I hope you

spread the word that on behalf of all the inmates and staff here in Deaf Smith County Jail, thank you for all you have

done and all you will do. Please pray for us…Happy Holidays Father Tony and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

God Bless.

Sincerely Marcos.
