MESSAGE FROM TIJOACHAN
Dear Saint Jude Family,
Praise Jesus and His most holy Mother!
After a renewing and refreshing Annual Retreat and family night, we are entering into the period of Lent.
I whole heartedly appreciate all of you for your participation and leadership. There are a few things I would like to bring to
your attention.
1. Practice abstinence. Lent is incomplete without external mortification together with the internal mortifications. Exter-
nal mortification includes, abstaining from meat or fish or from some desirable food and beverages, doing some
physical labor which we most often postpone etc. Internal mortification includes humbling ourselves, letting ourselves
be misunderstood without justification, keeping the good things we have done between ourselves and dear Father in
heaven, almsgiving etc.
2. Participate in the Stations of the Cross every Friday after the Mass. Our dear Lord loves those who meditate His pas-
sion and death. Doing the stations every day is the best. You could do it when you drive, listen to the Stations, or
watch passion of the Christ at least once. We need to do the Stations as a Mission Parish on Fridays.
3. There would be Lenten reflection every Friday during the Mass. Those who are interested to learn more about the
meaning of the Passion of our Lord, I would recommend everyone to hear and meditate on the Lenten reflections.
4. We begin reading the Holy New Testament from this Sunday, as a parish family. Each day we need to complete
three chapters. You will get the assignment for the week each Sunday. By the time we celebrate Easter we would
have completed 126 chapters from the NT.
5. Most importantly, let us forgive each other for none of us are perfect, and each of us are His children. It is in forgiving
that we really understand the Passion of our Lord. Let forgiveness be unconditional. When we make conditions to
forgive it does not become acceptable before the Lord.
May the Good Lord bless you all and grant you a fruitful Lent.
Sincerely yours in Christ our Savior
Tijoachan

During his apostolic trip to Brazil for World Youth Day 2013, Pope Francis spoke
quite a lot about the importance of marriage and the family.
"Today, there are those who say that marriage is out of fashion... They say that it is
not worth making a life-long commitment, making a definitive decision, ‘for ever’,
because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. I ask you, instead, to be revolu-
tionaries, I ask you to swim against the tide; yes, I am asking you to rebel against
this culture that sees everything as temporary and that ultimately believes you are
incapable of responsibility, that believes you are incapable of true love."

Do You Know that...
Saint's corner - St. Joseph
Feast Day : March 19 Contributed by Ashlynn Marie Cherian
1. The canon of Scripture (the books of the Bible) was first formally decided at the Synod of Rome in 382. This decision was upheld at the Councils of Hippo (393) and Carthage (397). At these Catholic Church councils, the same 46 Old Testament and 27 New Testament books that appear in today’s Catholic Bibles were de-clared to be inspired by God.
2. There are five archdioceses and twenty-nine dioceses in the Syro-Malabar Church worldwide. The late Pope
John Paul II elevated the Syro-Malabar Church to the autonomous rank of Major Archiepiscopal Church on December 16th 1992.
St. Joseph is the husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus. He worked as a carpenter.Despite the fact that Joseph came from a royal line of families, he never acted like it. He was humble, kind, caring, and compassionate. Soon after their mar-riage, Joseph realized that Mary was pregnant. He had planned to be divorced with Mary quietly. Joseph was a man obedi-ent to Gods will. Before he could get divorced with Mary, an angel appeared in his dreams. This angel revealed the truth about the child Mary was to give birth to. Without hesitation, Joseph took Mary as his wife. The angel then appeared again to warn Joseph and tel, him that his family was in danger. Leaving everything behind, Joseph fled to Egypt with his fami-ly. After some time, the angel came back to tell Joseph that all was safe and that he may return with his family. Joseph loved Jesus with all of his heart, so his first priority was to keep him safe. Each year, he would take his family to Jerusa-lem to celebrate Passover. Christian historians believe that Joseph died before Jesus entered the public ministry. St. Joseph is the patron saint of the universal Church, fathers, carpenters, and social justice. We celebrate two feast days for St. Jo-
seph: March 19 for Joseph the husband of Mary and May 1 for Joseph the worker. St. Joseph is a religious role model for
all Christians.

Novena to St. Jude
Most holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus,
the Church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron
of difficult cases, of things almost despaired of, Pray for me, I
am so helpless and alone. Intercede with God for me that He
bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired
of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive
the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribu-
lations, and sufferings, particularly - (make your request here) -
and that I may praise God with you and all the saints forever. I
promise, O Blessed St. Jude, to ever mindful of this great favor
granted me by God and to always honor you as my special and
powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you.
Amen
Prayer
May the most Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, and loved in all
the tabernacles until the end of the time. Amen.
May the most Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised and glorified
now and forever. Amen.
St. Jude, pray for us and hear our prayers. Amen
Blessed be the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Blessed be the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Blessed be St. Jude Thaddeus, in all the world and for all eter-
nity.
