There is still much learning to be done and further PAT exams for our grade 6 students in the weeks to come. A good night’s sleep and healthy snacks always help fuel active and inquiring minds. Our goal is to keep students focused on their learning, even in the midst of these long, warm summer-like days.

We are in the process of organizing for the coming school year. Please ensure that you have sent your registration packages back so we can get an accurate count. Also, continue to spread the good news about Neil M Ross so we can add more eagles to our nest!

Thanks for all you do to make NMR such a great place to learn and grow. We truly are “Building tomorrow in God’s love” everyday!

Thank you for your help in recognizing the NMR All Stars!

We chose the week of April 24 – 28 to show our appreciation to the staff at NMR for all they do each and every day for our children. Our ‘All Star’ themed week was filled with breakfast, lunch, custom coffees + biscotti, various snacks and refreshments, along with EOS Lip Balm and golf ball giveaways.

Thank you to all of the NMR Families who contributed Starbucks cards, EOS Lip Balm, decorations, food, tableware or volunteered their time and their creativity skills throughout the week. Your generosity was overwhelming and, as a result, the staff are able to enjoy Starbucks even after this week. Many thanks to the students who assisted at assembly and distributed the treats to the staff throughout the week. To Starbucks on Bellerose, St. Albert Costco and Sturgeon Valley Golf & Country Club who partnered with us and donated a portion of the coffee, a portion of the lip balm, the golf balls and the bottles of water – thank you so very much for your generous support. Everyone's involvement was key to making the week a success and it was very much appreciated.

Thank you again.

CLASS PLACEMENTS FOR 2017/2018

The process for the formation of class lists in September 2017 willsoon begin. Creating the best learning environment for all studentsis a task that requires much thought, consideration and planning.

While constructing classes, our teachers and other professionals consider the following: ✦ Class size guidelines as provided by Alberta Ed✦ Needs of Students identified though assessment procedures

provided by district and Alberta Ed. ✦ Boy/ girl ratio✦ Parents/Guardian Input made in writing which reflect student's

educational needs✦ Learning styles/work habits, gender balance (female/male),

academic✦ abilities, social, emotional and physical needs, behavioural needs✦ peer relationships and diverse learning needs.

✦ support as needed

As you can appreciate, it would be very difficult to honour requestsfor friends and teacher preferences in this process. Past experiencein creating our classes has resulted in excellent learningenvironments for our students. If you have additional informationthat you would like us to consider in this process, please respect the following protocol:

1. Input must be made in writing to the Principal no later than May 31st.

2. Request must reflect the learning needs of your child and the rationale for your request focused on outlining your child needs.

(Strengths/style, information not already known to the school, circumstance)3. Please do not make requests for a specific teacher.

You may have a comfort level with a teacher from previousexperiences. We assure you that our entire staff is excellent and our school will bring out the strengths of your child. We would appreciate if you would trust in the process.

While we welcome your input, it is also important to understandand respect that we may not be able to honour all requests.
