2017 - 2018 is THE YEAR OF THE SCHOOL
Monthly Message:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Flowers, valentines, and red hearts, what would the month of February
be without the celebration of Valentine’s Day. While the rest of the
world may choose to celebrate the ideal of romantic love on February 14,
TCDSB schools will be focusing on the virtue of LOVE as expressed in
the gospels. “For God so loved the world, He gave His only son.” John
3:16 As we focus on the virtue of love at St Aidan this month let us
remember that love not only inspires the practice of all other virtues, it is
the form and completion of all the other virtues. We will not limit our
celebration of the virtue of love to February 14th… February is going to
be a busy month at St Aidan. On February 6, Susan Aguilo, will present
the Young Authors in School Program for grade K to 8 students. She will
be signing any books purchased before that day. If interested, please ask
your classroom teachers for order forms. In addition, please join us for
our Ash Wednesday mass on February 14 at 9:30. First term report cards
will go home On February 12. On Friday February 2nd the St. Aidan Eco
club will be having a “Sweater Day” for all students. We are asking for a
$1 donation to support the Angel Foundation for Learning. Parent
teacher conferences will take place from 5:30 to 8pm on the evenings of
February 13 and 15. Please contact your child’s teacher if those times and
dates are not suitable for you and wish to make alternate arrangements,
feel free to join us for our Ash
Sincerely,
S. Lofranco
Principal

Columbus for allowing St. Aidan to host this event.

With these items and your donations of goods, we were able to fill 13 boxes to go to families in our community during this Christmas season. Have a joyous Christmas with your family and friends!
Cyberbullying Awareness On January15 and 16, the students at St. Aidan school participated in two presentations on Bullying and Cyber bullying
It is important to be aware of what your child is doing online. Cyberbullying is preventable and can be stopped if parents are vigilant in looking for the signs.
A child may be a victim of cyberbullying if he/she:
2017 - 2018 is THE YEAR OF THE SCHOOL
unexpectedly stops using the computer appears nervous when receiving a digital message
appears uncomfortable to see their classmates
appears angry to upset after using their device or the computer
is reluctant to talk about what they are doing online
becomes abnormally withdrawn from usual friends and family
A child may be cyberbullying others if he/she:
quickly switches the screen or closes the app when you walk by
uses their device or the computer over long hours or late at night
gets unusually upset if they are kept from their device or computer
laughs excessively while online
is reluctant to talk about what they are doing online
uses multiple accounts, accounts under another name, or another person's account
Talking with your child about digital citizenship, and the importance of maintaining a positive digital reputation,
is key to prevention. Remind your child that everything they do online can be traced back to them by the
authorities, and that information can never fully be deleted once online.
February is “Psychology Month”
The Psychology Department of TCDSB would like to invite every member of our community to explore and discover the many different ways psychology can help improve our everyday life and overall well-being, and balance the many roles

With the celebration of St. Valentine’s Day on February 14th, the Month of February is often associated with
LOVE. Our Catholic Faith is anchored in Love. God is “love”.
St. Paul reminds us ….
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It
always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
