A Note from the Pastor:
Is it just me, or is the number of second collections getting to be out of control? I think we have way too many of them. To remedy this situation, we need to remember that we are a stewardship parish, mean-ing that we support the mission of the Archdiocese of Miami and the greater Church. We will now simply have the monthly second collection for parish ministries and capital improvements. There are three other times during the year when we must have a second collection: the annual SAFE fund, ABCD and the Mission Cooperative. As for the other appeals that come from the Conference of Catholic Bishops, you can contribute to those with the envelope you receive with the regular parish envelopes. You can just place these appeal envelopes in the first (usually only) collection. Thanks to everyone for your cooperation.

HOMELESS MINISTRY recognizes/thanks.. Phil & Sharon Abdinoor For the past several years, Phil & Sharon have faithfully attended to the donations dropped off by parishioners on Sunday in the LOAVES & FISHES box in the back of church. Each Monday morning, they diligently sort through the assorted items donated, leaving any food items appropriate for the Blessed Sacrament/St Vincent DePaul Food Pantry for another volunteer. This "team of 2" then loads up their truck to drop off certain items to the HOMELESS OUTREACH office and then on to the HOMELESS ASSISTANCE CENTER/SHELTER with items they need most. Their job is really challenging during LENT & ADVENT when donations increase significantly. Our Ministry could not function so efficiently without their weekly help. THANK YOU both from our Ministry & those who need & receive our parishioner’s donations.
Saint Anthony Women’s Guild will hold their Meeting and Lunch on Wednesday, September 12th, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall at Heart of Je-sus Catholic Church Maronite Rite, located at 1800 NE 6 Court, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33304. Complementary lunch will be provided.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Cheryl Bartanowitz, President at 954-605-1086/[email protected].
Young Adult Ministry (YAM) Update: On Thursday, September 20th Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Anthony Church. This is sponsored by the Saint Anthony Young Adult Ministry.
Stewardship Announcement:
“Did not God choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised those who love him?” JAMES 2:5
Which is more important to you – being rich in faith or rich in possessions? Society teaches us that possessions are most important. The Lord teaches us a different lesson. When we are rich in faith, we place God first in all things and realize that it’s more important to share our material wealth with those who have less.

SCHOOL NEWS
The Kennedy Centers Definition for Arts Integration
by Sean Layne and Lynne B. Silverstein
“Arts Integration is an APPROACH to TEACHING
in which students construct and demonstrate
UNDERSTANDING through an ART FORM.
Students engage in a CREATIVE PROCESS which
CONNECTS an art form and another subject area
and meets EVOLVING OBJECTIVES in both.”
SACS students continue to grow in their arts jour-
ney by immersing the performing and visual arts across the STREAM curriculum.
Through exploratory means, grades K-4th will participate in an arts integration class twice
a week where they will have the opportunity to expand and extend knowledge of the core
subjects. Grades 5th-8th will immerse the performing and visual arts curriculum-wide.
These students will be provided the opportunity to focus in-depth through their choice of
arts electives and clubs. Mastery of the National Core Arts Standards are reflected in all
lessons and can be found at https:/www.nationalartsstandards.org.
“Just make a mark and see where it takes you.”
-Peter Reynolds
During Arts Integration, Kindergarten through 4th grade completed a literary study of the
beloved children's book “The Dot”. After the study of shapes, primary colors, and negative
space, the students made THEIR mark through the creation of THEIR dot. We hope you
enjoy their gallery as much as they enjoyed bringing their creation to you.
Pre-sale wristbands will be available for purchase before and
after all Masses the weekend of September 15 and 16.
