Registration Guidelines•Everyone MUST sign up for 8 courses. •Everyone MUST choose 3 alternates. Due to scheduling conflicts and availability of classes, students often end up with an alternate. North Carolina Virtual Public SchoolOnline courses are available to students with strict guidelines:• You must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and NEVER have failed an online course.• You will spend at least 90 minutes daily working on NCVPS website and/or modules. Working online
is a tremendous time commitment.• All final grades will be recorded on your transcript.• When a class is offered at SSHS, you will take the seated class unless there is a conflict with your
schedule. •plictions must be complete at registration. See your counselor for info.
Classes are offered in the following areas:Advanced Placement (year long) Art and Music electivesCareer & Technical electives General electivesScience electives Social Studies electivesTest Prep World Languages
CTE Internships•Recommended for 11th or 12th grade-must be able to provide transportation•2.5 GPA (3.0 for Health Science internship)•Must complete 135 hours•Follow the REGISTRATION link on the St. Stephens High School home page or the Counseling Department’s page for an online application.•Teacher and counselor recommendation required.•Applications are due by April 7th.
CVCC Classes Offered at SSHS
CVCC has college courses offered at SSHS (no transportation
involved to the college, no books; small activity fee is required)
Any rising Junior or Senior can sign up for Welding or Horticulture
courses, but courses are taught at a college level. College classes
have strict attendance policies, so students with attendance issues
should consider this before signing up for any college course.
Student will need to complete CVCC application.
CCP Classes Offered through CVCCAvailable to Juniors/ Seniors
Choose Pathway- College Transfer or Technical College Transfer Pathway requires 3.0 GPA or higher and college-ready test scores in English, Reading, and MathCollege Transfer courses: ENG 111,112, PSY 150, MUS 110, etc. Full list of courses on pp. 69-71 of Registration guide.Technical Pathways: Automotive, Business Administration, Culinary, Cosmetology, Collision Repair & Refinishing, Computer Technology, Early Childhood Education, Electronics Engineering, Emergency Management, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Office Administration, Office Administration, and Welding. Full list of courses on pp. 59-68 of Registration guide.Some Technical pathways require testing to determine eligibility, but some do not require
testing. Students must complete CVCC application.

NC Scholars25 Total Credit Requirements:● English I, II, II, IV● Mathematic I, II, III, and a fourth math with Math III as a pre-requisite● 3 Sciences: Earth/Environmental, Biology, and Physics or Chemistry● 4 Social Studies: World History, American History 1 & 2, Civics &
Economics● Health & Physical Education● 6 elective credits
○ 2 credits in a world language○ 4 credits in one of the following clusters: CTE, JROTC, Arts, Language,
or any other core subject area● 3 higher level courses which carry weighted quality points; must be taken
junior or senior yearAn overall UNWEIGHTED GPA of 3.5 or higher
President’s Education Awards Program
Requirements:● Have a 3.5 unweighted GPA through fall semester of
senior year● Score in the 85th percentile on either the verbal or math
portion of the SAT I or subject test or composite ACT score
● Earn at least 12 credits from the following areas: English, math, science, social studies, geography, and world languages
Graduating with Honors
Dependent upon weighted GPA at the end of the third nine weeks, senior year.
Students are recognized as follows:● GPA of 3.5 to 3.99 -Cum Laude● GPA of 4.0 to 4.40 -Magna Cum Laude● GPA above 4.40 -Summa Cum Laude
Registration DeadlineYou will register on:
Juniors: Monday, March 20th
Sophomores: Wednesday, March 22ndFreshman: Thursday, March 23rdMake-Up Day: March 24th
You must have your registration sheet complete with parent signatures in order to register.
