Introduction
National Parks Board (NParks) of Singapore is the lead agency for greenery, biodiversity
conservation, and wildlife and animal health, welfare and management.

ContentMany programmes available for all age groups. Specifically for pre-schools, we have:

Biodiversity Week for Schools
Date: 22 to 31 May 2020
Objective: To connect and engage communities for the conservation of Singapore’s natural heritage
Activities available:• Playtime with the Herp Squad• Green Wave• Festival of Biodiversity

• Launched since 2015 to 2019
• Different themes every year
• Objective: ▪ To raise awareness of our biodiversities in
Singapore▪ Learn to play a part in conserving our biodiversity▪ Use cognitive and motor skills via the activities in
the book

Resources provide to schools:
• Copies of “The Herp Squad and the Mystery of the Missing Bluebird” Sticker Activity Book
• Animation video of The Herp Squad and the Mystery of the Missing Bluebird
Role of Teachers:
• Screen the animation video in class
• Facilitate the sticker book activity (suggested lesson plan will be provided)
• Submit a simple report at the end of the programme

Biodiversity Week for Schools: Green Wave
Date: 22 to 31 May 2020
Objective:
• Plant locally important trees in school compound
• Learn importance of trees and ecosystem services
Resources:
• A choice of native species of tree (~1.5m tall) OR potted plant
• Delivery to schools by NParks appointed contractor (includes a fee)
Role of teachers:
• Facilitate tree planting
• Share about the trees (Infokit will be provided)
• Submit a simple report at the end of the programme

• Teacher’s briefing session on various programmes

Time : 3:30pm to 5:30pm
Venue : Function Hall, Singapore Botanic Gardens
