  • Feast of Faith: The Sign of the Cross At the beginning of our prayer, we make the sign of the cross together. This sign, simple and powerful, operates on many levels. We trace the sign of the cross over our bodies, reminding ourselves that the cross of Christ has become our source of resurrec on, life, and grace. With this sign, we also profess our faith in the Trinity: the presider does not say “in the names,” but “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”—three persons, one God. The sign of the cross is also a bap smal reminder, for every sign of the cross echoes the words spoken over us at our bap sm, which marked our entry into the saving mystery of Christ. This many-layered sign is also our primary sign of blessing: the cross is traced over people, places, and things upon which we ask God to impart divine benedic on. In blessing ourselves with the sign of the cross at the beginning of Mass, we acknowledge the mystery that has gathered us together: that Christ, the crucified and risen One, is living, and that we are members of his Body. Our response, our Amen, is our yes to all this, our first profession of faith.

Thank You from Father Bill I wish to thank the people of SS. Peter and Paul for a wonderful Christmas.

Thank you to those who decorated the Church, who prepared music for the Masses, for the lectors, servers, ushers, and my video crew. Thank you to our great deacon who blessedly preached the weekend Masses. Thank you to all who gave me gi s of food, drink, presents, and monies … I am deeply grateful for your generosity.

“The Priest” Hopefully, this film will spark spiritual ques ons in those

who view it. “The Priest” is available on Amazon Prime. LEICESTER, United Kingdom – Father Paul Grogan is an ordinary priest in Bradford, in the north of England, but his life is extraordinary. His story is told in the documentary “The Priest,” which tells the story of Mary, Mother of God Catholic parish from the beginning of Lent un l Easter Sunday. “I just want to see what it is like to be with a priest for a period of me,” said Michael Whyte, the film’s creator. “I think people have a sort of rather narrow view of the priesthood and that it’s, you know, they do Mass a few

mes week that’s about it – maybe they’ll take the odd confession and stuff like that – but generally speaking, it’s a rela vely easy job and everything is alright with them because they’ve got God on their side,” he said. “I felt that there’s a human element to the priesthood: The man himself and what he goes

through on a personal level and how difficult it is or how trying, and I had no idea,” Whyte told Crux." Whyte told Crux the most surprising thing about following Grogan around was the amount of work he did. “I don’t think people do realize how hard priests work. Everybody thinks their own voca on is incredibly hard and stressful… but I felt that following Father Paul – he has one day off a week, and during that one day off he spends his

me thinking about the problems in the parish – but the rest of the me he’s either mee ng people, or he is in the

Divine Office or his sor ng out some of the finances in the parish. It’s non-stop,” he said. “He could receive a call at 10 in the evening from parishioner or requiring help or something like that, so it seemed to me extremely demanding, not just physically but also emo onally as well, so that that was a big surprise,” he added."
