OUR RECENT ACTIVITIES

January and February 2013 have been extremely busy months for our Club. Thank you to the members who have assisted with the following activities.

Several fundraising BBQs at Bunnings Whitfords and Balcatta. This included Involvement in Zone Project – raising funds for Scoliosis Research (Nathan’s Project)

Australia Day Breakfast

Children of Courage Project – one nomination submitted

Collecting of stamps for Lions Mobility Foundation.

Membership Drive

Recycling of newspapers

RECENT DONATIONS

$500 to the Tasmanian Bushfire Appeal

$200 towards a walker for a disabled child.

AUSTRALIA DAY BREAKFAST 2013

Several of our members assisted the Lions Club of Stirling in organising the Australia Day Breakfast held at the Des Penman Reserve in Nollamara. Many local people attended and the breakfast was highly successful.

FUNDRAISING BBQS

Our Club continues to raise funds for various projects. The dates for

our next BBQs are Sunday 17th March and Sunday 9th June 2013. We are grateful to Bunnings Whitfords and Balcatta for giving us this opportunity to raise funds.

PEACE POSTER COMPETITION

Our Club will take part in this project in 2013. The Peace Poster kits are

not available yet. When the kits are available they will be delivered to the North Beach and Balcatta Primary Schools.

CHILDREN OF COURAGE

Our Club has submitted one nomination for the Children of Courage Awards. We are proud to sponsor Jack who has a rare congenital neurological disorder. Our thanks to Lions Chris Smelt for organising this nomination. The Awards will take place at the Pan Pacific Hotel on 7th April 2013.

ZONE PROJECT

The Lions Club of North Beach has joined up with several other Lions Clubs in our Zone to raise money for research for Scoliosis. (Nathan’s Project). A fundraising BBQ was held on 12th January at Bunnings Balcatta. Approximately $2000 was raised for this Project.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

Several of our members distributed leaflets in the area of North Beach and Trigg inviting local people to attend an Information evening . This was held on the 27th of February. Several visitors attended the evening and we are grateful for their interest. We are hoping that our Club will be able to attract new members as a result.

MINTS AND FUDGE SALES

Well done to Craig and members who have sold mints and fudge. Please keep up the good work. Members to establish additional mint outlets if at all possible.
