Department Activities

1. Department Association Activities

Department of English organized a Guest lecture on how technology makes English Language Learning Fun and Entertaining on 03.06.2019 for

final year students. The resource person for the programme is Mr.Tom Latinovich along with Ms.Aspita Raveendran from The Talking Yak

California based company. A total of 80 students participated in the programme.

Department of English organized An Induction Programme for a weak on the various genres of literature for the first year students on 14.06.2019

Department of English organized The Inaugural of English language Forum on 28.06.2019 for the students of English Department. The Chief Guest

for the function is Dr. Beula Bosco of Presidency College, Chennai. She addressed the students on the topic Indian Feminism.

Department of English organized a FDP on A Psychology on Student teachers Relationship for the Faculty members of English Department on

28.06.2019

Department of Commerce organized Alumni Interaction Program on 19th July 2019 for First year Commerce Students. The Resource Person for

the programme is Mr. Pr. Sivabalakrishnan, Marketing Development –BYJU, Coimbatore. A total of 120 Students participated in the programme.

On 27th June 2019 the Department of Commerce PA conducted Guest Lecture on Career as Chartered Account for B.Com PA students.”Charted

Accountant, S. Rajesh from Coimbatore ICAI addressed the student, I B.Com PA with CA (60) students where participated.

Department of BBA (CA) organized an Inauguration on 27th June 2019 for all the students. The resource person for the programme is Mr. R.

Ramasubramanian, Managing Director, Mansco Fluidtek Pvt. Ltd., A total of 345 students participated in the programme

Department of Management Science formally inaugurated a new Degree Programme namely BBA Logistics on 19 th June 2019. The Chief Guest

and Resource Persons for the programme were Smt.S. Malarvizhi, The Chairperson and Managing Trustee of Sri Krishna Group of Institutions,

Coimbatore Captain’ S.Ramanujan, Chief Executive Officer, Logistics Skill Sector Council and Mr. Ganesan, Head Education Initiative, Logistics

Skill Council, New Delhi. A total of 650 students participated in the programme

Department of Management Science organized Management Games Event on 24th June 2019. The Second and Third Year BBA and ISM students

conducted managerial events for their juniors. A total of 150 students participated in the programme.

Mr. Dharanitharan R. of the Department has been selected for the study of III Year BBA Programme in Concordia College, New York, USA.

Department of Computer Science organized a Seminar on Cloud Computing on 26.6.19 for third year Computer Science Students. The resource

Department of Electronics and Communication systems organized a Guest Lecture on Scope and Opportunities in Electronics on 19.06.19 for I

B.Sc. ECS Students. The resource person for the program was Mrs.Aswini, Senior Hr. Manager, Virtual Tech Guru India Ltd.Coimbatore

Department of Software Systems organized an Edutainment on Kidpix on 17th June 2019 for second year UG Software Systems Students. A total

of 60 Students participated in the programme

Department of Software Systems organized an Edutainment on Conoscenza on 20th June 2019 for third year PG Software Systems Students. A total

of 55 Students participated in the programme.

Department of Software Systems organized an Edutainment on DilDunt on 21th June 2019 for third year UG Software Systems Students. A total of

44 Students participated in the programme.

Department of Software Systems organized an Activity Day on 22th June 2019 for First year UG and PG Software Systems Students. A total of

110 Students participated in the programme

Department of Software Systems organized a Seminar on Microsoft Azure and AWS on 26th June 2019 for third year UG Software Systems

Students. The Resource Person for the programme is S. Muthu Kumar, Senior IT Analyst, TCS, Coimbatore. A total of 44 Students participated in

the programme.

Python Workshop was held on 20.06.19 at Dell and Research Lab for II BSC CSA A & II BSC CSA B respectively.

Placement Activity for Final Year students (III BSc CSA A & B) on 20.06.19: Forenoon – Self Introduction and Afternoon – Mock Interview

conducted by Mr. Mohammed Imran Khan, Business Manager, Bharti AXA Life Insurance, Coimbatore.

On 22.06.19, Activities was conducted for I BSc CSA A and I BSc CSA B by II BSc CSA Students on occasion of Activity Day.

On 17.6.19 and 18.6.19, Passed out CSA students has an interaction with First Years on behalf of Alumni Interaction.

On 27.6.19, III BSc CSA ‘B’ students had “Placement Activity” between 3 pm to 4 pm in J404, Coordinated by Abdul Faiz of CSA Department.

Hospital, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest. The event was Coordinated by Social Work, Women Cell, Health Club and English Department

Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore today observed the International Day Against Child Labor on 12th June 2019 at the college premises.

Idea and Proof of Concept

(PoC) Competitions.

SKASC in accordance with Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of

India’s directive has established Institution Innovation cell which fosters the culture of

Innovation. As per MHRD’s Innovation Cell’s advice SKASC conducted Idea and

Proof of Concept (PoC) Competitions. This program consists of scouting of best PoCs

from IICs and then passing these PoCs through mentoring sessions at regional level

and opportunity for best PoCs to exhibit at national level and connection with business

incubators

Inaugural & First Advisory

Board Meeting

The Department for Biotechnology, under the Ministry of Science and Technology,

Government of India. The Inaugural and the First Advisory Board Meeting of DBT

STAR College Scheme was organised today by the Department of Biotechnology and

Microbiology. The Programme was presided by the Principal, who is the Chairman of

DBT STAR College Scheme. Dr. R. Rajendran, Mentor, Dr. N. Ezhili, Expert

Committee Member of DBT STAR College Scheme delivered the Keynote addresses,

Dr. K. Sundararaman, the CEO of Sri Krishna Institutions felicitated the gathering.

WORLD DAY AGAINST

CHILD LABOUR

The PG Department of Social Work, Bio-Sciences and NSS Units of SKASC in

association with National Child LabourProject(NCLP),hosted the National Child

Labour Dayinthecampus.The day witnessed events like Awareness Lecture, Oath

pamphlet distribution. Mr. Vijayakumar, NCLP Project Director,

Dr.K.Sundararaman,CEO of SriKrishnaInstitutions, Dr. P. Baby Shakila, the Principal

and Dr.A.Alagarsamy,Head of the department of Social Work, Dr. B. Suresh, Head of

the department of Bio-Science and other Professors, Staff and Students took part in

the event.

Awareness Programme on Skin

Donation

Women's Cell and Health Club and the PG Department of MSW of SKASC

organized an Awareness Programme on Skin Donation, Breast Cancer and

Reconstruction. Dr. Raja Shanmuga Krishnan, Consultant, Oncoplastic Breast and

Aesthetic Surgeon, Ganga Hospitals, Coimbatore was the Resource Person.

12 13.06.2019 Campus Recruitment Training

T. I. M. E Academy, Coimbatore conducts training sessions on CAT Entrance Test for

all the 2nd year students at Sri Krishna Arts and Science College from 13 June 2019 to

1 July 2019. Mr. N. V. Subrahmanyam, Centre Director Mr. X. H. Jenovar, Faculty

and Mr. R. Thiyagarajan, Marketing Dept. T. I. M. E Coimbatore, conducted today’s

classes. The event is coordinated by Mrs. G. Sumalatha, of the Department of

Computer Technology and Mrs. S. Akhila, of the Department of Commerce

(BPS & CM).

NSS - BLOOD DONORS

DAY

Blood Donors Day was celebrated on 14th June to thank voluntary, unpaid blood

donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and also to raise awareness of the need for

regular blood donations to ensure that all individuals and communities have access to

affordable and timely supplies of safe blood. The host country for this year’s World

Blood Donor Day is Rwanda. The NSS volunteers of SKASC donated blood and

created awareness on this occasion.

14 14.06.2019 Freshers Day

SKASC organized Fresher’s Day to give a warm welcome to the new comers

and to induct them formally into the SKASC family. The day was filled with

excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness. The day turned more

colorful with the motherly affection showered on them by our honourable Chairperson

& Managing Trustee Smt. S. Malarvizhi, madam who advised them to enjoy their

freedom with responsibility and cautioned them against the bad company as well as to

know their limits.

15 17.06.2019 Media Trophy’19

Department of Physical Education of SKASC conducted Media Trophy’19 a Press and

Media T20 Cricket Tournament. Seven teams from Dinamalar, Dinakaran, Indian

Express, The Hindu, Times of India, Deccan Chronical, and media XI actively

participated in the tournament. The trophy was won by the New Indian Express.

The Principal Inaugurated the tournament and in the end presented the trophy to the

winners. The event was coordinated by Physical Education Directors Dr. C.

Kumaresan and Mrs. V. Ambiga.

16 17.06.2019 Spoken Tutorial

SKASC as a part of EXTENSION ACTIVITY organized “Basic Software Training”

for the Government School teachers of Suburban Higher Secondary School, Ram

Nagar, Coimbatore.It is a part of Spoken Tutorial, which is an initiative of MHRD,

Govt.of India, and National Mission on Education through Information and Computer

Technology (NMEICT), developed at IIT-Bombay.

NCC - Combined Annual

Training programme

The NCC Cadets of SKASC are in the Combined Annual Training Camp at Sree

Ramu College of Arts and Science at Pollachi. The cadets are actively involved in

Weapons Training. They practiced using SLR and 0.22 hand guns. They also learned

Map Reading. The aim of this Annual Camp is to introduce them to life in the

Regiments. They also develop camaraderie, team work, leadership qualities, self-

confidence and self-reliance in the Camp.

Inauguration of BBA Logistics

Programme

Sri Krishna Arts and Science College has crossed a milestone today by inaugurating

BRAND NEW, FIRST IN INDIA BBA Logistics Programme in collaboration with

Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) , the, Ministry of Skill Development and

Entrepreneurship (MSDE), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and CII

Institute of Logistics (CIL). The programme was presided over by our Chairperson &

Managing Trustee Smt. S. Malarvizhi, the CEO of Sri Krishna Institutions

Dr. K. Sundararaman and the Principal graced the occasion.

Elder Abuse in India:

Role of Family in care giving-

Challenges and

Responses.

Through this program the Department created awareness on caring for the Aged. The

programme was presided over by the Principal. PG students from the Departments of

Social Work, Psychology, English, Public Administration, Tourism & Travel

and Faculty members from various departments participated.

21 21.06.2019 International Yoga Day 2019

SKASC observed International Yoga Day 2019 with the aim to reflect harmony and

peace for the humanity. Pushkara Yoga Club and NSS Units of SKASC jointly

organised the 5th International Yoga Day Celebration. Ms. Ma Radha, Yoga Trainer

from Isha Foundation, Coimbatore led the students in performing Yoga. The Yoga

Trainer guided the staff and students in this spiritual exercise and explained the subtle

science of Yoga which ushers harmony between mind and body. Around 500 students

participated in the yoga event.

22 22.06.2019 ACTIVITY DAY

Fun days are important part of education life. At any level allowing students to enjoy a

day of fun activities to break up the routine work is healthy and makes the college life

more enjoyable for the students and faculty. The 1st year UG students of SKASC had

an Activity Day in their classrooms. The staff members had planned meticulously to

bring out the creativity and the efficiency of the students in regard with their courses.

Workshop on Superior Work

Performance

Dr. Ben Bernstein a visiting Performance Psychologist from the United States of

America conducted a Workshop on Superior Work Performance for all the HODs and

senior faculties of Sri Krishna Group of Institutions. Dr. K. Sundararaman, CEO of

SKI introduced and welcomed the Chief Guest, the Principal presided over the

inaugural. Dr. Ben dwelled in detail on How to be Calm, Confident and Focused in

stressful situations. His session was a life saver for those in the throes of perpetual

stress. His three stool model of the focused spirit, calm body and confident mind puts

one in perspective and helps them to strive for superior performance.

25 26.06.2019 National Reading Day

The Rotary Coimbatore Green City and World People Welfare Trust, Coimbatore, in

the presence of the Principal donated 540 books to the Book Bank of SKASC Library

commemorating the National Reading Day and Reading Month. Mr. V. S.

Sureshkumar, President, Rotary Coimbatore Green City donated the books. The event

was organised by SKASC Library Readers Club and was coordinated by Dr. R.

Moorthy, the Librarian of SKASC

CS (COGNITIVE SYSTEMS)|

NEW STUDENT

ORIENTATION

The Department of CS (Cognitive Systems) of SKASC organized an Orientation

Programme for the first year students of this brand new Course, which has a tie up

with Tata Consultancy Services. Mr K. Srinivasan, Customer Leader, TCS, Chennai

and Mr. Stephen Moses, HR Manager, TCS were the guests of honour. They briefed

the students on the contents of the course in general and also on how to be successful

in life. The session was highly inspiring and motivating. All the first years were

oriented towards what to expect of the course in days to come.

NCC | FIRST YEAR CADET

SELECTION

The NCC Army Unit of SKASC conducted Selection Procedures to enroll new Cadets

for the academic year 2019 -2020. The Final Selection by the personnel from Indian

Army is scheduled in the 4th week of June. The Selection Process is based on Physical

Tests, Mock Drill, Fitness Tests and final interview. During the selection process

various skills of students.

MOU | INDIAN INSTITUTE

OF BANKING AND

FINANCE (IIBF)

The Department of Commerce - Banking and Insurance of SKASC signed a

groundbreaking MoU with Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF).

The IIBF is a registered company which imparts education in Banking and Finance. It

is known for its flagship courses such as the Junior Associate of Indian Institute of

Bankers (JAIIB) and the Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
