PURPOSE OF THE EQUIP M ENT

To amplify the RF power received from REC in the transmission band .

To exchange serial data with the associated Receiver equipment toprovide real time information about the operating status.

To allow full equipment control / monitoring capabilities from a remotesite.

To provide modular composition of the high power amplifier stage sothat to continue normal operation even with a section faulty.

To allow corrective maintenance procedures in the high power amplifier stage without interrupting the normal operation (RF output power isreduced but it is not inhibited).

SALIENT FEATURESThe Solid State Transmitter 9.5KWp is a S Band High Power transmitter.

Contains 8 HPA modules each with power output of 1600 W peak.

The power supply circuit includes two power transformers which

produce 21 Va.c. to supply the HPA modules andM

CA.M CA consist of two identical processing channels (A and B); only onetakes the equipment control ,other takes the "hot stand-by" role.

Each HPA modules has its own self protected power supply section that

provides a regulated voltage for the solid state power amplifiers and theBITE.

In the event of a HPA failure the equipment continues to function usingremaining amplifiers while maintenance can be performed on the faultymodule.

TX-TURN ON MECHANISMI/P main power supply is routed through breakers CB1 and CB2 locatedon AC Distribution Panel, to blower assys and T1 transformer.

21V-50Hz 3 phase output from T1 is applied to relay box.

+28V PWR ON command from REC energizes relays K1 K6, distributing3 19V-50Hz and 21V-50 Hz voltages to the SPS Cards.

TLRRON signal is activated, through M UX board causes the K1 closureand turns ON CB3 breaker.

Voltage is applied to the primary winding of T2 power transformer whichthen provides the 21V-50Hz - three phase supply voltage to all the HPAmodules of the equipment.

AUX PWRON signal sent to Radar Receiver confirming that the

transmitter equipment is turned on when CB1 & CB2 ON.

    RF PATH

Composed of RF Driving, RF Power Amplification and RF Power M onitoring.

The RF driver receives 20 dBm signal and attenuates it to 141

dBm by variable attenuator (inside RF DRIVER), and sends it tothe driver selected.

The RF signal to HPA driver is amplified and distributed to all theeight HPAs by 1/8 divider performing the RF driving task. This RFlevel can be adjusted by using the attenuators provided on the RF

    DRIVER.

The input RF of 40.30.5 dBm to each HPA is amplified by theindividual HPA to 1.4kW each and combined by 8/1 combiner to 9.5 kW.

-Processing Logic (PRU): 2 independent identical processing channels (A&B)-One channel operative ,other in hot stand -by mode.-Performs the BITE and status data processing.-Sending of the activation and reset commands to the HPA modules.

-Transmitter Control functional (IONT) : Manages the serial exchange with theHPA modules by means of full -duplex RS -485 data bus 0.

-External Interfaces ( M UX-S): manages external units data exchange with theProcessing Logic and links it with the Local Control Panel.

-Messages and sync signals exchange with the associated Receiver.-D ata exchange with the (Local Control Panel) for controls, monitoring andmaintenance purpose (RS -232 Link).

HPA DESCRIPTIONInterlock CANNON( safety switch ),enables i/p supply if properly connected.RF Amplifier Stages Control:

    - LIU activates the IRA D signal enabling the input of the RF signal into theamplification chain.

-LIU evaluates RF signal level in i/p and according to the current total absorption, the number of transistors belonging to the final stages which are faulty.

-HPA module can also operate with few final transistors operative.-IOTA signal is activated by a thermal sensor if temperature inside the module

becomes high, inhibiting Radiation.External Bus M anagement: Links HPAs to Transmission controlller &External Interface.HPA Bus is divided into two parts -
