LECTURING AT THE N.E.C.

-Incident Occurred: 27/01/2013 02:30 hours.

- 1 way in.- Over-occupied.- Management failings.- Fire Service failings.- Flammable P.U. foam insulation.- Outdoor signalling flare.- No fire alarm.- No sprinklers.- No emergency lighting.- 242 fatalities - mostly students.- 180 bodies were removed from the bathrooms.- Band member attempts suicide.- Fire service and State were investigated.

THE KISS NIGHTCLUB FIRE

S.R.FIRE were asked to present the information atthe FPA infozone theatre at the National ExhibitionCentre in Birmingham for the International Firexevent in May 2013.

We not only covered the KISS incident, but also drewupon the other major nightclub fires that haveoccurred over the last Century.

This content has now been developed into a coursefor Nightclubs, Bars, Restaurants, Cinemas andother similar places of public gathering.

“A tragedy that should never have occurred”.This fire incident was very similar to the Station

Nightclub fire which occurred nearly exactly adecade prior to the KISS incident.

“If you’ve ever been to a fire training session, you willmost probably have been shown the fire triangle”. Theessence of preventing a fire is to keep the threeelements apart. In every day terms, this means keep-ing the heat away from the fuel.
