MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT - MALDA DIVISION ORGANISATION: About us:- Mechanical department of Malda division is headed by Sr. DME and DME (Power). They are assisted by DME/C&W, AME (C&W), AME (Power) and AME/DEMU respectively. Mechanical department has two wings i.e., C&W and Power. C&W wing looks after maintenance& examination of rolling stocks, Operation & Maintenance of Mechanized laundry with Linen Management of Trains and Maintenance & Operation of ART-ARME / SPARMV.Power wing deals with operation of trains alongwith management &maintenance of running rooms, crew-booking lobbies, weighbridges, RCDs, Maintenance & Operation of 140 Ton BD crane, Fire extinguishers, Motor Vehicle Garage and Maintenance of DEMUrakes. The jurisdiction of Malda division is from Malda to Dhanouri, Malda to Poradanga, Malda to Malda link Cabin, and Bhagalpur- Dumka, Bhagalpur- Banka &Jamalpur –Munger. Carriage & Wagon depots of Malda division are situated at Malda Town, Sahibganj, Bhagalpur&Jamalpur. Crew management lobbies are stationed at Malda Town, Sahibganj, Bhagalpur &Jamalpur. Major Crew running rooms are stationed at Malda Town, Sahibganj,Jamalpur and Bhagalpur, having capacity of 227, 45, 40& 21 beds respectively. The overall cadre of Mechanical department is 2849 viz. 1018 in C&W and 1831 in Power wing including DEMU Shed Sahibganj. The most prestigious train of Malda Division known as "Vikramshila Express” is primarily maintained by Coaching Depot Bhagalpur.
