rations, the national costumes have

developed, and all cultural heritage is

the product of man’s persistent search

and ability for innovation and desire

for change.

Our ties are inspired by the embroidery

found in some of Norway’s most known

and beloved women costumes. Welcome to

a brand new concept and tradition.

The ties are assembled and embroidered

by hand. Solid craftsmanship and the

use of pure Norwegian wool and woolen

yarn make the ties unique and timeless.

specialists that vouches for the quality of

the craftmanship.

The use of pure, new Norwegian wool for

the yarn and the original costume fabric

delivered by well established manufacturers

such as Gudbrandsdalen Uldvarefabrik and mandal

Veveri, makes the costume ties solid craft

products with a modern twist.

The Award for Design Excellence is an award

given by the Norwegian Design council.

Jarle is the creative Director,

Designer and Photographer. He is

educated in Product Design from

central st. martin’s college of

Art&Design, London, England, coventry

Polytechnics; coventry, England and

the AD study program at Westerdal’s

school of communication; Oslo.

He has worked for 12 years in the

advertising industry as an AD in,

amongst others, saatchi & saatchi;

Oslo. At present he is employed as

a brander in Black moose; Trondheim.

Tanja is the project leader of

sPTZBRGN. Pedagog and all rounder.

she is educated at the University

of Oslo, the Norwegian University of

science; Trondheim, the Norwegian

school of management; Trondheim and

the state’s Divers school.; Bergen.

she is one of the founders of Dalí and

Orange club; Trondheim. Tanja is

also passionately interested in

diving and was Norway’s first female

professional scallop diver.

S P T Z B R G N is a small design bureau which seeks to modernize the Norwegian

cultural heritage and the national treasure of the costume tradition.

since its founding in April 2010, the design bureau has launched several

hand-made costume tie collections. The costume ties take inspiration from the

embroidery found in some of Norway’s most known and beloved women costumes.

S P T Z B R G N is continuously working on the design and production of new

costume tie models and aims to offer costume ties from every county in the nation.

S P T Z B R G N is made up of husband and wife Jarle Hagen and Tanja Holmen.

Sptzbrgn has chosen to take a pro-active approach with regards to the environment.The embroidery yarn and fabric for our costume ties is pure wool, a renewable natural resource that is biodegradable.

Our suppliers are certified by the quality management standard Ns-EN IsO 9001 and the environmental management system Ns-EN IsO 14001.

Among other things, this means that the production of embroidery yarn and fabric is done according to internationally approved quality standards.
