Overview

Sprint Enterprise Messenger is an Android application that provides aneasy-to-use native SMS client application with integration into Sprint'sEnterprise Messaging Gateway

The Sprint Enterprise messaging application was specially designed tosupport features not available with the OEM native messaging application:

  Provides multiple conversation styles, appearance and uniquepop up notifications

  Supports the reassembly of SMS messages where the originalmessage is delivered as segmented SMS messages

  Provides Reminder notifications of unread SMS and MMSmessages as often as you like

  Specially identifies and presents enterprise messages in a singlethread

  Supports replies to SMS callback numbers and phone numbers

in the text of SMS messages

  Supports Multichoice Response messages allowing users toselect and send specific replies for these special messages

  Supports the ability to auto forward SMS and MMS messages

  Provides ability to use messaging as a collaborative tool (groupmessaging)

The application can be downloaded for a 30 day free trial, afterward it willbe billed $1.99 monthly to your Sprint bill

Sign Up

The Sprint Enterprise Messenger can only be used after you completethe sign up process. When you open the applicationfor the first time you will be asked to sign up. Ascreen will be shown asking you to verify your phone

number.

1. Click Ok to continue to Sign Up2. Verify your phone number is correct - If for some reason your phone

number is not shown or incorrect, please make sure to enter itcorrectly

3. Once you verify the phone number click on the ‘Sign Up’ button 

Note: You must be aSprint subscriber to usethe application

day free trial, afterward it will be billed $1.99 monthly to your Sprint bill.

If you decide to cancel your subscription you can do so from the ApplicationSettings menu. Select ‘Press to deactivate the application’.

The Popup Window

The popup window allows immediate notification for incoming messages aswell as the ability to quickly respond to messages

* Smiley –  Allows immediate insertion of a smiley 

* Templates  –   Allows immediate response from a pre-definedtemplate 

* Speak –  Allows you to record the message and convert to text 

*  Add to Contacts  –  Allows you to easily add the sender to youraddress book

* Read – Read the message (Text to voice) 

The Popup allows immediate notification for incomingmessages as well as quick response

Conversation Styles

The Sprint Enterprise Messenger allows you to select differentconversation styles for your messages depending on your

preferences. There are currently three styles from which to choose:

1. Standard Android Style:  Main message list with Sent, Receivedand Draft messages in one screen for each destination

2. Bubble Style:  Main message list with Sent, Received and Draftmessages in one screen for each destination

You can switch between Conversation styles from the settings:

  Settings > Custom Style > Message list settings > Conversation

style

  Select the Conversation style

  Your messages will now be displayed in the style you selected

Compose Messages

To compose a new message click on the ‘+’ at the top right corner of themessage list screen:

This will open the ‘New message’ window:

 Address the message by entering in the destination(s) manually or byselecting from the phone Contacts ‘+’ in the ‘To’ field.

In addition to typing the message you can dictate the message using

speech to text conversion by pressing the icon.

If you wish to add attachments press on the icon. Attachments canpictures, videos, audio, slideshows, applications, appointments,contacts or location coordinates. The message will be sent as an MMSor SMS depending on the type of attachment.

You can also ‘ Add subject’, ‘Insert quick text’, or ‘Discard’ the messagefrom the ‘Settings’ menu.

Press ‘Send’ to send the message.

Message Options

When you receive messages you can access special reply, forward andcall options for each message. Long press on the specific message to

access the ‘Message Options’ menu.

Long Message Reassembly

When a text message longer than 160 characters is sent to the mobilephone, the message is delivered in multiple 160 character segments.

The Sprint EMG client is capable of reassembling the multiple segments fordisplay as one long message.

Settings > Application settings > Message reassembly

Click the check box to the right of ‘Message reassembly’ to activate thisfeature.

Sample with reassembly:

 Auto Forward to SMS or Email

The Sprint EMG client lets you auto forward the messages you receive toanother phone or to an e-mail address.

In order to enable, please go to Settings Application SettingsEnable Auto forward, and activate this feature.

Then go to Settings Application SettingsSet Address and supply eithera phone number or an e-mail address to auto forward messages to andpress OK. (Note the application will auto detect if this is an e-mail or aphone number)

 After clicking ‘OK’ messages you receive will automatically be forwarded tothis destination.

Multichoice Messages

Users of the Sprint EMG SNPP and WCTP interfaces are able to sendmultichoice messages requesting the recipient to select a specific replyto be sent back to their system. The Sprint Enterprise Messenger letsthe recipient select and send the reply from the ‘Message options’ list.

The reply choices are presented at the top of the ‘Message options’ list:

Working with Contacts and Groups

The Sprint EMG client lets you address messages to individual contactsand groups. The Contacts and Groups can be from the mobile phoneaddress book or can be created from the EMG client while addressing amessage.

In the New Message window press the ‘+’ in the ‘To’ field to open the list ofexisting contacts and groups.

Select the contacts and groups for the message

If a Contact has more than one destination type you will be prompted toselect the specific destination.

When done pressing the handset Back ( ) button to display all theselected Contacts and Groups in the message ‘To’ field. Finish composingyour message and press ‘Send’.

New Contacts can be added to the address book via the phone addressbook or by long pressing on a message and selecting ‘Add to Contacts’from the pop-up screen.

New Groups can be added or deleted to the address book via the phoneaddress book or selecting ‘Add new group’ from the Settings in the EMG‘Groups’ tab

Enter the name of the new group in the pop-up window to add the newgroup name to the list of Groups

Select the group from the groups list to open the group window. Select ‘Addcontact’ from the Settings menu. This will open the ‘Contacts’ list. Select thecontacts for the group. If a Contact has more than one destination type youwill be prompted to select the specific destination. When done pressing thehandset Back ( ) button to display all the selected Contacts in the group

window. Press the handset Back ( ) button again to return to Contacts list

The settings page allows you to configure the application options fornotifications, appearance and other advanced features.

To open the settings pages, open the application menu bar (see  ApplicationMenu) and then click Settings

CMAS alerts are used to provide information about an emergency situationfrom government, weather or other agencies. Please make sure your phoneis capable of receiving CMAS alerts to use this feature. Notification Settings
