RACHAEL MCSHANE AND THE CARTOGRAPHERSRachael McShane is a singer, cellist, fiddle and viola player based in the north east of England. An original member of folk big band Bellowhead, she is now working on a new solo project of traditional songs and is playing with a brand new band, The Cartographers.

PROMENADE CONCERT ORCHESTRA – MUSIC FROM THE PALM COURTThe essence of light music comes from the early nineteenth century until the 1960s, when live music could be heard everywhere; in cafes and concert halls, spas and watering places, dance halls and piers. HATS OFF TO LED ZEPPELIN The international sensation Hats Off to Led Zeppelin return. THE RAYMOND FROGGATT SHOWRaymond Froggatt first formed his band in Birmingham in 1964, surrounded by talented friends including the likes of Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi as well as the Electric Light Orchestra’s Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood among others. Raymond continues to write and tour around the world with his band performing songs spanning a 54 year career.

With every year Sandy’s reputation grows in stature, both as a songwriter and an interpreter of traditional material, and the six musicians in the band who share an impressive folk-rock pedigree are each at the top of their game. BOOTLEG BLONDIE The only Blondie tribute to play the legendary CBGB in New York. Not only have they had the honour to be thanked on Blondie’s 11th album ‘Pollinator’ but have actually played not one but two tours with Blondie’s legendary drummer Clem Burke. Lead vocalist, Debbie Harris, has the looks, the voice and the attitude of the original Blondie bombshell and starred on BBC One’s ‘Even Better Than The Real Thing’.

MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITIONAs part of Morecambe Carnival, The Platform presents: ‘A Model Railway Exhibition’ a Storth Model Railway Club Event. Model enthusiasts can marvel at the featured and guest layouts with plenty of nostalgia from the Hornby clockwork system in 0 gauge featuring trains that would have carried visitors to the Midland Hotel. There will be 00 scale layouts with classic steam heritage, modern engines and rolling stock on display plus G scale layouts with new added features.

8-9 August, 11am-4pm£2 on the door. Under 5s free.

JIMMY JEMAIN IS THE SHADOW OF CLIFFJimmy Jemain is now firmly established as the UK Number 1 Cliff Richard tribute, as voted by the Entertainments Agents Association. Jimmy attended the same school and even lived on the same housing estate as Cliff. He has performed as Sir Cliff in “Cliff The Musical” at London’s West End Prince Of Wales Theatre and this year celebrated thirty years as a tribute to his idol.

THE SLAMBOVIAN CIRCUS OF DREAMSThe Slambovian Circus Of Dreams make a welcome return to The Platform all the way from New York. Starting off as the almost heavy metal Ancestors in the 90s, the band have taken all that is good in folk, country and Americana with a twist of Pink Floyd flavouring. The Slambovians have melded their own unique sound that is at once familiar yet almost impossible to pigeon hole.

Featuring all the hits including: ‘You To Me Are Everything’, ‘Can’t Get By Without You’ and ‘Feel The Force’.

ROY ORBISON AND THE TRAVELING WILBURY’S EXPERIENCECome and celebrate with the band as they commemorate 32 years since the Wilburys’ original album release and pay a special tribute to The Big O, who died later the same year. With expert narrative and big screen action, the show features tributes to Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan plus all the Wilburys’ classics.

1950s JUKEBOX JIVE FESTIVALThe North West’s biggest summer rock and roll weekend returns! Friday night launch party at The Boardwalk. At The Platform On Saturday for daytime DJs followed by Saturday night headliners The Jets. Sunday afternoon free DJs before Sunday night headliner Ricky Aron brings his international Elvis Presley show to the venue.

MARTIN KEMP: THE ULTIMATE SUMMER PARTY 80S DJ SETMartin Kemp returns to Morecambe with his famous 80s DJ Party following his sell out show earlier in the year.
