STUDENT TESTIMONIALS .

In 2018, when circumstances changed in my professional life, I decided to return to college. I had achieved a Level 7 ordinary degree in Quality for Industry. I had extensive professional experience in the Medical Devices’ industry but I did not have a Level 8 qualification, meaning I was not eligible for a number of roles advertised. On reviewing Springboard, I opted for an Online course with IT Sligo. The admissions team, online lectures and resources available from the Yeats Library have all been fantastic. I am now working as a Quality and Regulations Manager for a small medical device firm. I would never be where I am today without the help of IT Sligo, the lecturing staff, and the support of Springboard.

In 2005, I came to Ireland from Lithuania and worked for several years in Medical Device companies. I had an interested in learning more about Biopharma and accepted a role as a Cleaning Technician in a Biopharmaceutical company. A colleague told me about opportunities to upskill on Springboard+, so I applied for the Level 6 in Biopharmaceutical Processing and have since progressed to the Level 7. During my time studying, I received a job offer as a Biotech Production Specialist. The course curriculum at IT Sligo helped me understand the process and science behind Biopharma production, meaning I could take the opportunity to further my career.

There were two main reasons for picking IT Sligo. Looking at Springboard options, IT Sligo was the Institute that offered the largest number of programmes using Online delivery. This gave me the confidence that they knew what they were doing in that space. The second reason was the programme itself – the content is extremely relevant to my industry and whilst I graduate with a Higher Certificate, the qualification is embedded into IT Sligo’s Masters in Project Management, meaning I now have a progression path into earning a Masters. With 90% funding for the Certificate, I have 1 year of the 3 years Masters programme completed.

I really enjoyed my year studying online with IT Sligo. The course was well structured, the lectures were interesting, and the support provided was excellent. What I liked most about the course were the self-assessments. I was able to practice all the theory and practical skills. Having Springboard funding was very helpful. It made the course affordable, at a time when we as a family have many other financial commitments.I am currently working as a Subject Matter Expert for a Continuous Improvement team. With the help of this Certificate in Lean Six Sigma, my goal is to progress to a Process Analyst/Project Manager role.

Bianca PetrascuCERTIFICATE IN LEAN SIX SIGMA

IT Sligo visited my employer and highlighted how I could develop and expand my career with several opportunities available through the Springboard funded programme. The courses were directly related to my industry and offered modules taught by top lectures with practical training at facilities in NIBRT/IT Sligo.Since completing the courses, I have had the opportunity to apply for several jobs in related fields. I would not have been able to return to College without the Springboard initiative. It was an excellent opportunity to achieve my goal of getting my degree in Biopharmaceutical Processing, while progressing my career and bettering myself.

Martin ByrneLEVEL 7 DEGREE IN BIOPHARMACEUTICAL PROCESSING

I worked in an industry that was in decline and knew I needed to upskill to secure long term employment. Springboard was the platform that allowed me to completely change my career path. I choose Online Learning with IT Sligo as the model gave me the flexibility to continue working while balancing family commitments. The support available from fellow students and lecturers has been fantastic. I also found the CV preparation work completed as part of Springboard really helped me secure my new role in the Biopharma sector. Peter Walsh
