Arrive in Geneva; Boat Tour of the CityAfter reaching our destination, check into the hotel and leave your baggage. Enjoy a narrated tour of the lake. Then return to land for lunch before settling into your hotel for the remainder of the day. Sleep well and adjust your internal clocks for your new time zone.

Friday, March 18

GenevaWake up and have breakfast at the hotel before embarking on the bus for a tour of the United Nations. This important international agency was formed after World War II to encourage peace and cooperation amongst the world’s nations. After your tour, reflect and unwind at the beautiful Jardins Botanique. Use the remainder of the day to visit a museum or other attraction of your choosing. Dinner is on your own. Return to your hotel for the evening.

Saturday, March 19

Geneva; Transfer to Host CommunityBegin the morning with breakfast at your hotel before checking out and heading into the old quarter of the city. Explore the International Museum of the Reformation and the rise of a new religious faith. Afterwards, enjoy some free time to stroll the cobblestoned streets before boarding the train to transfer to your host community of Morteau for the 6 pm meeting with your host families.

Free Day with Host FamiliesUse this opportunity to relax with your host families and get to know them better. Perhaps take a stroll through your host community to discover all that the town has to offer.

Monday, March 21

School Visit DaySpend today shadowing your host brothers and sisters around from class-to-class to see what school life is like in France. After school, share the American way of life at a presentation for your hosts and members of the school.

Gastronomical Tour of MorteauToday is dedicated to delighting the taste buds. Begin with a tour of Tuye Papy du Gaby, where they make the famous smoked sausages. Then visit a nearby cheese factory to learn how they make this tasty treat. End today on a sweet note with a visit to Klaus Chocolaterie, one of the oldest businesses in Morteau. Enjoy the wonderful foods of Morteau – perhaps even take home some food in your suitcase to enjoy back in America!

BesaconDiscover one of France’s hidden treasures, which boasts a historic city center, Roman ruins and a Renaissance palace. The 17th Century citadel known as Vauban, stands tall above the town which was given the designation of a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Enjoy a tour of a castle, walk through medieval ruins and spend time shopping in the historic town.

Thursday, March 24

NeuchatelCross over the border to visit this historic town in Switzerland. You’ll visit the Latenium, the largest archaeological museum in Switzerland containing over 50,000 years of regional history, many dating back to the La-Tene Epoch. Afterwards take in the scenery and spend the rest of the day as you wish before heading back to Morteau to rejoin your host families.

Colmar, FranceExplore a town in the Alsace region of France.  Discover the area known as Little Venice with its  charming maze of small canals which you can visit in a flat-bottomed boat.  Also visit the birthplace of Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi: the father of the Statue of Liberty in New York. His birth house, turned into a museum contains many works of this gifted sculptor.

Free Days with Host Families; Celebrate EasterEnjoy your final weekend with your host families, and participating in their Easter traditions. Pack your bags and prepare for your journey back to the U.S. the next day

Depart for the U.S.Sadly, your European adventures have come to a close. Board a flight back to Washington, DC and arrive in time for dinner to share stories of your travels. Flight details to be provided later.
