Meet our Ambassadors of ‘Perseverance’. The children (pictured above) are our chosen Ambassadors for the school value of ‘Perseverance’. Each child demonstrates perseverance in their school and home lives. They keep on trying even when things seem tough and they always learn from their mistakes.
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they
gave up.

bulb)

Reading should not be presented to children as a
chore or duty. It
should be offered to them as a
precious gift. —

March 2nd to March 6th
St. Andrew’s will be celebrating Book Week with ‘Take One Book’, a
‘Guess-the-Book’ challenge and, of course, the chance to come to school
dressed as a book character!
We are studying a whole school book this Book Week, Dianne Hofmeyr’s Zeraffa Giraffa. Exciting activities are planned in every class so watch out for some amazing giraffe-themed learning!
We are introducing a half-term family challenge to create an object inspired by a book. You could make a wardrobe (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe), a truly magnificent broom (Room on the Broom) or a Sorting Hat (Harry Potter). Be as creative and imaginative as you like.
Put your name, class and the title of your book underneath your object. Classes will have the chance to ‘guess-the-book’ from all the objects you make and bring to school on Monday, 2nd March ready to be displayed. Here are some ideas:
Finally, Thursday, 5th March is World Book Day and we are inviting the children to come to school dressed as a character from one of their favourite books. It would be wonderful if they could also bring a copy of the book their character appears in to school with them. There are some ideas to get you started on the World Book Day website.
Have a Reading-Filled Half-Term Holiday!!
