During the summer, they will also offer Ultimate Survival which offers fun and adventurous outdoor courses
where children aged 7 to 14 years will try exciting outdoor activities and games learning new skills along
the way. There’s even an optional Camp Out on Thursday nights!
Visit www.ultimateactivity.co.uk for details or you can call their friendly team on 0330 111 7077 (local rate).
Last weekend we had a very successful visit to Bede’s at their Galactic
Challenge, we had four pupils who were part of the winning team – well
done to Henry, Henry, Max and Josh.
This week saw the first of our class assemblies with an exceptional perfor-
mance by 3A. They retold the story by Julia Donaldson, ‘A Squash and a
Squeeze’. At the end of assembly 3A shared with us all the things they are
grateful for. Our ‘Heroes’ House Art Competition is ‘hotting up’, and I am
delighted to hear that so many of our pupils are taking part this year – the
deadline is coming up soon.
We are hosting our Future Schools’ Event on Tuesday evening, please do
email [email protected] if you would like to attend.
As the weather is cooling down please ensure that your child has gloves,
hat, coat and a scarf at school.
Best wishes.

3A ASSEMBLY
YEAR 4 BRITISH MUSEUM
Year 4 have been studying An-
cient Egypt in History this term.
To support their studies they
visited the British Museum last
Friday. We first spent half an
hour in the gallery containing
the Rosetta Stone and many
other Egyptian artefacts. We
then moved upstairs to visit the
three galleries containing the
collection of Egyptian mum-
mies. This was a useful introduc-
tion to the illustrated talk on
mummification given in the
education centre. It was fasci-
nating to discover what the
latest scanning machines re-
veal about the mummified re-
mains. We returned to the up-
stairs galleries for a further
looked at the mummies before
departing for Rose Hill.
3A retold the story of ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’ in their form assembly this week . Well done for brilliant
acting, singing and speaking

BEDE’S GALATIC CHALLENGE Very early on Saturday, 14 pupils from Years 6, 7 and 8 travelled to Bede’s Senior School to take part in a
challenge of galactic proportions. We were split up into three companies called Solaris Flight Systems, As-
trodyne Delta and Columbus Aviation. There were also two other companies. In total there were 125 pupils
split across the five companies.
The mission brief was to design a spacecraft to travel from Earth to Mars and back again following an Al-
drin Cycler route. We had to design the shape of the spacecraft, living quarters for at least 2,500 crew as
well as all the facilities that a small town needs like medical, security and education.
Researching new technologies was a big part of the challenge and we had to incorporate these new ide-
as into our designs.
The day rapidly disappeared and judging soon came around. Each company had to pitch their design to
a panel of judges and in front of an audience of about 300 people!
Four Rose Hill pupils were members of the winning company, Columbus Aviation: Max Y7, Josh Y6, Henry Y7
and Henry Y6. Well done to everyone who took part.

The Music Department are pleased to announce that we are going to be holding our first Orchestral
Week beginning Monday, 4 February. During this week, children will have the opportunity to hear a variety
of orchestral instruments, demonstrated by a variety of professional musicians during assemblies. Following
these assemblies, children will have the opportunity to sign up for trial lessons. Parents are very welcome to
attend these assemblies (please see further details below).
During their curriculum lessons, they will have the opportunity to learn how an orchestra works and how to
conduct an orchestra!
On the Friday 8 February, we are delighted that members of Tunbridge Wells Symphony Orchestra are com-
ing in to deliver workshops with the orchestra and in some curriculum lessons. Following the workshops, par-
ents of the school orchestra are invited to our concert at 3pm, held in the theatre.

Congratulations to our U9 Grey
team for reaching the semi-finals of
the Rose Hill Development Tourna-
ment. We beat both Sutton Va-
lence 1-0 and The Mead 1-0, lost to
Kent College 0-1 and went into the
semi-finals. After a tough battle
against St Michael’s, they proved
too strong for us but our girls en-
joyed the experience and we are
very proud of them.
