Fabric Requitements:

Cutting Instructions:

If using a Jelly Roll, cut each strip into 4- 2 1/2” x 10” segments.

If using a Layer Cake, cut each square into 4- 2 1/2" x 10” segments.

From Background:

Cut 16- 2 1/2” x WOF strips

-Subcut each strip into 2- 2 1/2" x 21” rectangles.

Cut 4- 6 1/2” x WOF strips to be used in the top and bottom borders.

From Binding:

Cut 8- 2 1/2" x WOF strips

Sewing Instructions:

1. Sew together 5- 2 1/2” x 10” on the short side. Make 32 units.

2. Sew one end of your pieced segment to a 2 1/2” x 21” background strip. With right sides together, join the opposite

end of the pieced unit to the opposite side of the background strip making a tube. Repeat for each of the 32 pieced

units.

3. Cut each background strip at random lengths from each end of the colored unit. A cut may be made anywhere on the

background fabric. It is important to vary the placement of the cut.

4. Sew the strips into sets of 2, then sets of 4, then sets of 8 and finally, sew the halves together. Press.

5. Join 2- 6 1/2" x width of fabric strips together. Make 2.

6. Measure your quilt horizontally through the middle. Cut two border lengths to this measurement. Attach to the top

and bottom of your quilt. Press to the border fabric.

7. Join your 8- 2 1/2" x width of fabric strips on the diagonal. Quilt and bind. We used a variegated pastel thread.
