POLICIESRegistrationRegistration is on a “first come, first serve basis.” You will only be notified if the class/program is cancelled. Late registrations may be accepted, if space is available with no reduction in fee.

Forms & FeesEach class/program must be accompanied by payment. You may register and pay for classes two ways; either Online at www.manassasparkcommunitycenter.com or in person at the Community Center located at 99 Adams Street, Manassas Park, VA 20111. Checks are to be made payable to “City of Manassas Park.” There is a $35.00 returned check fee for any check returned by the bank.

CancellationsThe Department of Parks & Recreation reserves the right to cancel any class/program which does not meet the minimum enrollment. All programs with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled 5 days prior to the program start date. PLEASE REGISTER EARLY!

Non-City ResidentsMost of the fee based classes/programs are available to non-city residents at an additional fee. Please see the individual class/program for additional information.

Inclement WeatherIn the event of inclement weather the Department of Parks & Recreation will follow the Local Government cancellation schedule. If classes/programs are cancelled, every attempt will be made to re-schedule the class/program.

Included in the Camp Carondelet nomination, is a Civil War cemetery located in the direct vicinity of Camp Carondelet in the Blooms Crossing subdivision. The Georgia Cemetery is available to the general public by permit only.

LOCATION BRIED DESCRIPTION

A nationally registered antebellum stone house, circa 1855, located in the central region of the City, in view of city hall. The Conner House is currently in the process of being restored and is not open to the general public.

A nationally registered 13-acre monument site located in the western end of the City, adjacent to Signal Hill Park. Signal Hill is open year round from 7:30 a.m. until dusk.

A nationally registered 8-acre Civil War encampment located in the Blooms Crossing subdivision adjacent to Cougar Elementary School. A series of nature trails are available to the general public year round from 7:30 a.m. until dusk.

All Parks and facilities are open to the public and may be scheduled for specific use through the Parks and Recreation Department at 703.335.8872. Please note, the rental application is a request only, not a guarantee.

A Facility Use Application is required for all facility reservations. Special Permits, in addition to the Field Use Application may be required for after hours events, special events, or group use. Payment, if required, must accompany a Facility Use Application. The Department does not accept tentative reservations. Cancellations must be made at least 14 days in advance for shelters and at least 48 hours in advance for other facility reservations in order to receive a refund. Applications are available at the Costello Park Business Office. All rentals are subject to availability and must be booked and paid for 7 days in advance of event. Certain restrictions may apply. Rates are on a ‘per hour’ basis, unless otherwise noted. Deposits are a one time refundable fee, restrictions may apply.

Field Application:Athletic fields and park grounds are available for rental to registered leagues and group users. Cost for permits vary on the type of usage and the duration of the request. All Spring field usage requests are accepted beginning February 1st of each calendar year for a March 15th through July 1st season. All Fall field usage requests are accepted beginning July 1st of each calendar year for an August 1st – November 15th season.

Note: All fields will be assigned by March15th. Permits will be issued at time of application approval.

The Union Mill TrestleA key structure in the Civil War, is located in the last few remaining acres of the once Union Mill Park near the VRE lot and Generals Ridge Golf Course. Union Mill Trestle is open to the general public year round from 7:30 a.m. until dusk.

Summer Extended Care 2011This licensed program is provided over the summer for children currently enrolled in k-5th grade, Monday through Friday. Full day care begins and 6:00 a.m. and continues until 7:00 p.m. at the Manassas Park Community Center. The Extended Care program offers a nutritious morning and afternoon snack, weekly themes, field trips, arts and craft activities, games and sports, in a fun supervised environment. A one-time yearly registration fee of $55.00 is required at the time of registration. Prior to beginning care, a private orientation is required. Please provide on/before orientation a copy of your child’s immunization record, health physical form, and birth certificate. Water polo requires an individual to be a proficient swimmer, because he cannot touch the sides or bottom of the pool for extended periods of time. Chair FitnessAs the name suggests, chair exercises are exercises that are performed while sitting down. Chair exercises can increase your strength, balance and vitality all while sitting down. They create movement, stretching, and help increase your heart rate. Each exercise involves a series of slow movements. Perfect for the active adult that has troubling standing or experiences difficulty balancing.

Monday MoviesRelive some of your favorite past and current movies. Some of the movies that will be shown include Citizen Kane, Casablanca, A Street Car Named Desire, and Forrest Gump. We will also take popular requests, if you have a movie you would like to watch just let us know and we’ll show it.

Participants in this camp will gain first hand knowledge of the rules and the skills it takes to play volleyball. Participants will receive individual instruction as well as playing on a team for a tournament. Camp CougarThe summer break is winding down and you don’t want to spend final week in the house do you? Come to the Manassas Park Community Center and learn about different sports from around the world. Sports that will be taught include basketball, football, baseball, soccer, badminton, kickball, lacrosse and many others. At the end of camp you will have the opportunity to create your own game.
