Hungry for Hockey? By Alexis Kiendl Dylan Corsi has been selected as

The Waffle Zone’s male Athlete of

the Quarter for numerous rea-

sons. Dylan has been skating

since the age of four, and has

played hockey since the age of

six. He plays six days a week

either by practicing or by com-

peting in games and tourna-

ments.

Dylan’s greatest inspiration has

always been his parents, and he

always strives to do even better

because of their support. His all-

time role model is Sidney Crosby,

Captain of the Pittsburgh Pen-

guins Ice Hockey Team. He ad-

mires Sydney’s talent but most of

all his humility.

One of Dylan’s greatest challenges

was during a tournament in which

his team received seven ejections

in one game! His team lost 3—4,

but they did not lose heart. Be-

cause of Dylan and his team’s per-

sistence and dedication, his team

made a comeback and beat that

team during the next round in the

tournament.

Dylan is scheduled to compete at

the Quebec International Pee-Wee

Hockey Tournament, an event

dubbed the “Little League World

Series of Hockey” as part of Team

Maryland. He was also featured

in a Loudoun Times Mirror article

on December 28, 2019. Good

luck, Dylan!

Multi-Sport Mary By Jaya Sharma

Mary Raterman has been selected

as The Waffle Zone’s female Athlete

of the Quarter because of her ath-

leticism in multiple sports: soccer,

basketball, and running. She be-

gan playing these sports at a young

age and has been determined to

excel in each of them.

Mary practices basketball in the

winter; soccer in fall, winter, and

spring; and running throughout the

year. She practices 5—7 hours

every week!

The greatest challenge for Mary is

learning new and difficult skills,

but she doesn’t let that slow her

down or deter her. She always

puts forth her best efforts!

She has won many awards such as

a first-place basketball champion-

ship award, second-place champi-

onship in both basketball and soc-

cer, and a first-place award in her

women’s group for running the

5K and four-mile run!

Not only is Mary an exceptional

athlete, she is also captain of her

soccer team and inspires them.

Mary’s athletic inspiration comes

mainly from her dad who pushes

her to become a better athlete and

always encourages her during the

difficult times. Mary also looks

up to Alex Morgan, an American

soccer player on the U.S. Wom-

en’s National Soccer Team.

When Mary faces defeat, she

comes back even stronger the next

time, just like Morgan. Mary is a

real inspiration for other young

athletes!

It’s Show Time! By Jaya Sharma

“Unique New York!” shouted the Drama Club students as they worked on tongue twisters to improve their ar-ticulation and enhance their stage projection. Farmwell’s Drama Club was set in motion this year by Ms. Lufkin and Mr. Barba-

gello who noticed that nu-merous students wanted to be involved in theater and drama. There are about 50 students in this club! The club ends at the beginning of winter break, so students are then free to audition for the spring musical.

One main goal of the club is to get students “out of their comfort zones.” The students participate in nu-merous activities such as facial and emotional exer-cises, tongue twisters, pro-jection, articulation, role playing and much more!

The Drama Club helps stu-dents develop that much- needed confidence and motivates them to audition for live theater. We wish the best of luck to all those new rising stars in the Drama Club. “Break a

leg,” drama students! Be sure to check out this amazing club next fall!

The teachers and student peers try to encourage all students to take risks and learn that making mistakes is acceptable and ex-pected.

Being a part of the Drama Club does not guarantee a student a position in Farm-well’s spring musical, but it certainly helps students acquire and refine their acting skills in order to be successful on the stage. Besides it is a lot fun and

helps students develop trust and positive relation-ships with others!

Frozen II

Movie Review

By Jenna Salem

In the movie Frozen II, one of the main charac-

ters, Elsa, hears a sound over and over again. It

bothers her so much that she feels compelled to

discover the source of her discomfort, and goes

out on an adventure. Her sister, Anna, and

friends become concerned about her safety, so

they decide to follow her to the mysterious place

where the sound seem to be emitting from. As

the mysterious sound draw Elsa closer and closer

into the depths of the earth, it also almost de-

stroys her along with a very close friend of hers.

One of the most interesting elements of this

movie was how the writers succeeded in bringing

back many of the original beloved Disney charac-

ters from the first movie Frozen, but yet were

able to make it interesting enough to cause me

to watch them all over again in new, exciting ad-

ventures.

I gave this movie three stars because even

though I liked it, it could not compare to the ex-

citement I felt when I watched the original Fro-

zen movie in the theater as a young child.

Aru Shah and the End of Time Author: Roshni Chokshi Book Review By Jhanvi Patel The book Aru Shah and the End of Time is about a 12-year-old girl who lives in Atlan-ta, Georgia. Her mom works at the Muse-um of Ancient Indian Art and Culture. When Aru lights the Lamp of Bharata be-cause of the urging of her classmates, things begin to get strange. Aru unknow-ingly unleashes the “Sleeper,” a danger-

ous demon who wants to end the world. Aru discovers she is the reincarnation of the eldest Pandava brother, Arjun. Boo, who was also known as Shakuni, is their guide. Aru and her friend Mini are taken to the oth-er world, where they meet their “soul dads.” Aru’s father, Lord Indra of the Rain, and Mini’s father Dharma Raja, Lord of Death, both gave their daughters gifts to aide them in their adventure. How will the girls defeat a demon with only a mirror and a ball? I gave this book five stars because the overall storyline was awesome in the manner in which it drew readers in. The book is mytho-logical in nature, so if you like mythology and adventure, then you’ll love this book!

Into the night sky, the signal goes out . . .

It is a cold, dark night in the midst of a

snowless winter. Yet something

sinister seems to be surging . . .

A mini blizzard appears out of nowhere

and begins to whisk innocent

citizens away!

It is now up to our heroes, Waffle Warrior

and Bacon Boy, to find the villain and

save the night!

The call for help must have gone

unnoticed. When it seems as though all

hope is gone . . .

In swoops our heroes to tie up

the villain, February!

POW

I’m sorry. It’s

just that Janu-

ary gets all the

attention!

Don’t worry.

Your time has

finally come!
