Vintage Garden Gift Show on Memorial Day Weekend.

We have fantastic local vendors with vintage linens, repurposed furniture, jewelry, kitchen goods, chocolates, homemade soap, local honey, a woodworker, a metal worker, yard art and lots of fabulous one of a kind items. We also have a fabulous BBQ truck coming. He will be parked right across the street, ready to offer an amazing meal!!! This will be at our Event Center (Gate 17) in Soap Lake.

In addition to our show, the city of Soap Lake is hosting their

first annual WAMM (wine, art, music and marijuana) in the park right across the street from us!! On the same day!

This is going to be a really fun event. There will be 30 artists showing off their paintings, glass works, jewelry and pottery; live music with several bands, vocalists and musicians; a beer garden and wine bar and lots of information regarding medical marijuana. This is not an opportunity to publicly consume, apply or smoke marijuana, that is still illegal. This is a family event. But it is nice to get information if you have any curiosity about the health benefits.

So join us May 27th - 29th; Saturday, and Sunday from 10 am - 6pm and Monday from 10am - 4pm. You’ll want to come early for the best selection as many items are one-of-a-kind.

The WAMM event is Saturday only. They might increase it to a two day event next year, but as this is their first year they have opted to start slow. SPRING 2017

It’s named for the vintage garden gate that greets you, located on Hwy 17, directly across from the East Beach of the Soap Lake Park. The Retreat House and Event Center is booked by guilds and groups that are coming to enjoy our local spoils. Sunshine, wildflowers, wineries, fabulous quilt shop… what more is there? We have seven events planned where we have saved the space for ourselves to host our own Fabric Patch events. This is a fabulous opportunity for you to meet a new group of friends and take a “quilting vacation”. Each retreat is four days, three nights in a spacious, comfortable setting with every amenity. Each quilter has two 4’ tables, a rolling chair and a 4’ x 6’ design wall in a 2000 square foot work room

complete with a commercial kitchen, three bathrooms and a barista bar. We have a local massage therapist that comes to work out the neck kinks and the local art gallery hosts a wine and cheese open house just for us. All linens, food, beverages and classes are provided as well as personal project assistance and door prizes. Each event has a “theme”. The Pow Wow Retreat and the Judy Neimeyer Retreat are full, but we can put you on a waiting list if there is are any cancellations. There are a few places left in the other events. They are all listed on the back page, and there is more information at the shop. If you’d like a tour just let us know. Spring in Prague

Collage Quilts is a fun technique sweeping the quilt world. There are fantastic full sized patterns from Laurie Heine, or, let us teach you how to draft your own pattern of a pet, home, flower, guitar or face. There are three steps: drafting, fabric layering and machine quilting. The best part is the fabric layering. It is a fantastic opportunity to use those fun stash pieces and graphic prints you’ve been saving.

This informative, fun class is Saturday, April 22nd 1pm - 4pm and an optional all day “construction workshop” on Friday, May 12th.

The lecture/demonstration is $19. After this class you will be able to draft your own pattern (or read a purchased full sized pattern), feel comfortable with the selection of fabrics, prepare your fabrics, and put your puzzle collage together. At the construction class you will bring your fabrics, your background and your scissors. I’ll help you put your puzzle together using the full sized design walls. The workshop will include lunch and will occur out at the event center. $26 for the entire day.

Machine Quilting Class: April 1 For those of you that want to perfect your machine

quilting technique on your home machine, bring your machine and a hopping foot (if you don’t

have this foot - see us, we will order one for you). Your quilt sandwich will be provided. We’ll discuss quilt preparation, design, threads and tools. We will

spend the majority of our time perfecting our technique on the practice piece. No stress. Only $18 for all supplies and instruction.

Gossip in the Garden by Anni Downs makes a gorgeous 68” x 78” quilt top from just 40 fat eighths. This is my favorite quilt of the season. Just because it is so different. I like quick and easy, I like interesting and flashy, I love wool… this quilt is none of those things. It is a garden themed quilt that offers an oppor-tunity to perfect handwork. I think people don’t like appliqué because they think it’s hard. But what do you work on in the car? Or on the plane? Or in the evening when you are expected to watch TV with the mister? This quilt!! There are some simple techniques that yield such fantastic results!! And this quilt is so cute I just can’t stand it!! This class is an 8 month class that will be offered on a Monday evening, BUT, it will feature bonus videos that will be emailed to you every month (just in case you can’t come to class, or don’t want to, or if you simply need to hear it again). The series will teach fusible appliqué, needle turn appliqué, freezer paper appliqué, hand appliqué by machine (yes, that’s a thing), English paperpiecing (blunts, 6 point stars, dresdens and hexies), hexies by machine and hand embroidery. There is also a little bit of basic machine piecing in there, just to keep it interesting. This series is only $80 for the 8 month series. That includes the classes and all of the videos.

Pattern is required (can pick up this up at your first class). Fabric requirement: 40 fat eighths and 3 yards of background. First class: Monday April 10th 6pm - 8pm

“Seeing Stars” is going to be a BLAST!!! This is a monthly class, just two hours on a Saturday. You bring a precut piece of background fabric and select your three precut pieces for your blocks. Then you cut your fabrics and piece a 12” block and a matching 6” block. Each class is only $9/month for the instruction, patterns, fabric and door prizes. Gorgeous Quilt!!

We will have two color ways: bright and dark. First Class: Saturday, April 1st at 1pm. But if you miss the first class and you still want to join us… you can easily catch up for May’s class.

Sophie’s Garden by Cotton Tales 48” x 60”

This is a beautiful, rich, textural quilt that consists of 20 blocks. Ten are pieced and 10 are wool appliqué. We are going to complete this quilt in just 5 classes, as the simple techniques are repeated in the blocks. The classes will include wool appliqué, paper pieced stars, Ohio stars, log cabin blocks, spools and house blocks. The series is only $40 for all 5 classes!! This is also a BOM option if you live out of town and would like a monthly kit/pattern/lesson.

Fabric requirements: 30 fat quarters ( 7 light, 14 medium and 9 dark)

Wool requirements: fat 1/8 of green and brown, and a charm stack of browns, purples and reds.

Forest Floor is a huge 106” x 106” quilt that consists of 12 pieced blocks, a log cab-in setting series and eight medallion print blocks. The 12 interesting sampler blocks are unique stars, with simple piecing. The patterns are well written, but classroom instruction will occur each month along with a full day of sewing at the end of the series to put the quilt together. Many of you will remember Kim Stetner. She worked for us for many years. She passed away March 1st, just a few weeks before her 60th birthday. Kim was an avid quilter and left behind a massive stash of fabrics, notions, machines and partially completed projects. We will host a yard sale on June 17th from 8:30 am - 2pm to find appropriate homes for Kim’s treasures. All proceeds will

go to Kim’s family, all leftover fabric will be going to the St Paul Lutheran Church quilters who piece, quilt, bless and gift hundreds of quilts every year, all

with donations. Join us to celebrate and remember Kim!

The Confederated Colville Tribes are sponsoring the Soap Lake Pow Wow on June 2, 3 and 4th. This type of celebration originates as an intertribal social gathering of traditional drumming, singing and dancing. It is a “contest Pow Wow” where dancers compete within age groups for prizes. The drum groups and dancers who attend the Soap Lake Pow Wow are from communities throughout central and eastern Washington. Most of the prize money is raised through donations. The Fabric Patch is selling raffle tickets for an Eagle Scene Twin sized quilt. $1/ticket. The drawing will be on Sunday morning the 4th of June. We are sponsoring the dance prize for the “Golden Age” Dancers (over 55). In addition to drumming and dancing, they bring bead, art and food vendors and all of this is going on in the park right across from our Retreat/Event Center. It is an exciting and spiritual event and very interesting to watch. You should bring your picnic blanket or lawn chairs and hang out in the park. This year we have kept the Retreat/Event Center for ourselves so we can easily go back and forth to the events in between sewing and piecing. We are hosting a few exciting guests for dinner and every meal will be Native American inspired. We have baked salmon, roasted squash salad,

tomato pie, fried bread and wild rice soup on the menu.

Our retreat is $249 for 3 nights, four days. We will be making a rather modern looking Squash Blossom Quilt and an Arrow Flimsy Sampler. The best news: we have made room for four additional people to join us for the events on Friday and Saturday. $119 pays for all 6 meals, activities, patterns and class instruction, but there is no space for sleeping over, so you’ll be hanging out with us all day both days, but heading home to your
