Upper Promenade Site Map Parking Improvements

The Historical Burnet Woods Bandstand is the focal point of the new and improved Burnet Woods Drive loop. This proposed design incorporates additional public space, less impervious surface, as well as additonal parking spaces. Safe pedestrian connections are key, as is the aestethetically pleasing linkage between the proposed Central Restaurant Location and the improved parking. A new Trellis covered walkway allows park-goers to immerse themselves in a natural oasis as they travel from Burnet Woods Drive to the new park amenities which include: a restuarant, plaza, improved playground, new recreational trail, greenhouse and gardens.

Modern,Urban, Natural

Emphasis is placed on maintaining the existing structures and elements of Burnet Woods; while enhancing the natural feel with modern, urban and natural materials. An improvement to the play-ground area is included in this emphasis on enhancing the existing structures with natural elements.

A trellis covered walkway, consisting of concrete and wood materials , will span

from the Band stand to the Restaurant and Plaza. This maintains the park atmosphere

from parking to the restaurant.

Above: Burnet Woods Drive Loop. Existing Band Stand is situated in the center of improved parking conditions with connections to increased greenspace, and trellis walkway that connects the parking area to the proposed restaurant.

Using modern and organic shapes and urban materials for park furniture and surfaces will help maintain the modern, urban and natural atmosphere of Burnet Woods.

Existing Playground is bare and uninviting. Playscape improvements will add to the natural feel and make the existing underutilized playground more inviting.
