Individuals, both donors and volunteers, are the mainstay of Happy Hollow

Children’s Camp. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one

of you who have so very generously supported Happy Hollow Camp over the

past year. Every hour and every dollar you have given has made an impact on

the lives of local children that attend Happy Hollow.

Camp has started off 2015 with much success at the annual gala. On

February 28, our Annual “Under the Stars Gala”, co-chaired by Amanda Ryan

and Jenn Sahagun, was a great success with an income of just over $115,000

for camper scholarships! Thank you to the event sponsors, donors, and event

attendees for supporting the gala. Mark your calendars for the 2016 Gala on

March 5, 2016 and plan on attending.

I would like to welcome new Happy Hollow Board Members- Angka Hinshaw of

the Marion County Public Defender Agency and Jenn Brooks Sahagun of

Lawrence North High School. In addition of the election of new board

members, Steven M. Schuld of Ingredion was elected as Board President,

Rebecca Stoner of Stoner Consulting, LLC as Board Vice President, Donna

Grotz of Indiana Public Retirement System as Board Secretary and Jody Littrell

of IMC Advisors, LLC as Board Treasurer.

In mid-March we received a letter from Lilly Endowment approving a program

request for the construction of a new canoe and kayak shed. The new canoe/

kayak shed will be built to store canoes, kayaks and all watercraft supplies. In

addition, the funds from the will purchase new watercraft and safety

equipment that will serve more children each year. Thank you Lilly

Endowment!

Lastly, our 2015 summer camp enrollment is on track with spring projections,

thanks to Christopher Chappell, our Program and Recruitment Director, who

has actively been recruiting campers through new contacts and collaborations

with new youth serving organizations. We are expecting record enrollments

this summer and as most of you are aware, 95% of the campers that attend

Happy Hollow Children’s Camp are on a scholarship. Therefore, it is of extreme

importance that we fund the needs of these children.

We are extremely grateful if you chose Happy Hollow to support from among all

the important organizations with which you are familiar. Thank you for

reaching out to children you will likely never meet. Your support will go a long

way to ensure these children have a brighter future.

Yours in Camping,

Bernard Schrader, Executive Director

24th Annual Under the Stars Gala and Auction

After dinner, gala guests enjoyed exciting casino games.

On February 28, 2015 over 300 distinguished guests celebrated Happy Hollow Children’s Camp at the Marriott North Indianapolis. The Under the Stars Gala raised over $115,000 for economically disadvantaged children in Central Indiana. The guests of the gala enjoyed a cocktail reception as they perused over a 140 silent auction items. Attendees had the opportunity to win a $130 bottle of wine in the wine pull. After an elegant dinner, the guests engaged in an exciting live auction and casino night. Funds from the gala benefit children that are economically disadvantaged or have mild to severe asthma in Central Indiana with scholarships to attend a week of summer camp in Nashville, Indiana. Thank you to our sponsors and guests for making the gala a wonderful event. Mark your calendars for the 2016 Under The Stars Gala on Saturday, March 5, 2016!
