BOYS FOOTBALL Robinswood hosted Dinglewell in the first league match of the season. After a slow start, Dinglewell scored a good opening goal and that was how it remained until half time. Robinswood started brightly in the second half and created several goal scoring opportunities that were well saved. Dinglewell however eventually increased their lead twice through 2 long range strikes. The inexperienced team should be proud of their efforts and will doubtless improve if they maintain their focus and hard work. GIRLS FOOTBALL We braved the wind and rain during the first tournament of the season, playing some difficult teams but all girls showed great determination and positive attitudes despite not reaching the final. Well done to all girls that took part and we cant wait until our next match! PANATHLON This term 8 Year 1 & 2 pupils got the opportunity to take part in a panathlon multi- skills event at Gloucester academy. The children represented the school well and took part in various sporting activities! They were amazing and especially loved the curling! NETBALL FESTIVAL On Tuesday 1 st October fifteen Y5/6 children took part in a Netball Festival at Denmark Road High School. The aim of the festival was for the children to have fun and feel prepared for the season ahead. Both teams played lots of games and improved tremendously throughout the festival. They had an excellent attitude towards playing in various positions and made sure they were 'The BEST they could be'. The team's first netball match will take place at Robinswood on Monday 21st October. Watch this space! The serious message though is that reading really matters! Remember the bands can be earned very quickly if your child reads everyday-just 10 minutes makes all the difference. Thank you for your dedication to our school Mrs Jones- good luck for the future! It is very important we have the correct contact details for you. Please ensure we have your correct mobile number and email address. If you need to update this, you should inform the school office by emailing [email protected] Thank you for your help with this. As the weather changes and we experience more wet weather, children must have wellies and coats everyday at school. If you have any wellies that your children have outgrown, wed appreciate any you could donate to school so we have spares readily available. Like all clothing, wellies should be named please. Please remember, for the safety of our children and our neighbours, to park responsibly. This includes not parking on and around the zig zag lines. Also please ensure that we continue to teach the children to cross the road safely, using the zebra crossing where possible. Given the terrible accident that recently occurred, we want to ensure that all children are able to safely cross the road so please take some time to discuss and practise this with your children. Thank you. Mrs Davis Be the BEST you can be.

NEST We took a group of 13 KS1 children to the Matson Baptist Church on Tuesday 8th October. Nest is a stunning multi-sensory experience for children and their parents and carers. Unfolding in a custom-built performance tent, NEST takes audiences on a journey through the seasons, using playful poetry, puppetry, song, movement, tactile and sensory play. This magical show awakens childrens’ curiosity and invites adults to look afresh at the world around them. The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves - so did the adults!

DEAN HERITAGE CENTRE Year 1 went on a trip to the Dean Heritage centre as part of our topic 'Now and Then' where we explored the Victorian era. As part of the trip, the children got to experience what it would have been like to be a Victorian child by taking part in a Victorian school room workshop. The teacher was very strict and slightly scary– no one dared to cross her! YEAR 5 VISIT HARTPURY COLLEGE At Hartpury College the Year 5KE children have been taking part in outdoor team building activities in an outdoor classroom. They have been challenged to work together to solve problems individually and as a team. The sessions have been very fun and active and have covered key areas of the P.E., Geography and PSHE curriculum. 5HC will also be visiting after Christmas. KEEP CALM KIDS We have a date confirmed for the first Keep Calm Kids course for KS1 & Year 3. We already have a list of those interested and places will go very quickly so ask for a leaflet at the office and put your name down. The course will be 5 weeks starting Thursday 14th November until 12th of December, 1-3pm. We will be holding a course after Christmas so if you are interested in putting your name down for the KS2 course, please contact us on the school email or pop into the school office.

Attendance Holidays Please remember to complete a Holiday Request form if you are taking your child out of school in term time. These can be picked up from the school office and must be returned to school at least seven days before the start of the holiday. Holidays will be recorded as unauthorised unless there are exceptional circumstance.

THANK ROBINSWOOD IT'S FRIDAY TRI Friday, on Friday 11th of October, was again full of laughter and fun, with some serious bits. It was lovely to see some new faces too. We were joined by Nichola Ellis-Jones from adult education who came to share what courses are out there and to find out what courses were wanted. The very wide list included: baking with kids (as an after school club), relaxation, English and maths with your kids, gardening, IT skills, employability skills, nail art, willow weaving and first aid. If you have any other courses that you would be interested in email [email protected], [email protected] or pop into the office. FUNDRAISING 16 Year 4 and 5 children recently went to the local Morrisons, in Abbeydale, where they spent an hour fundraising whilst helping pack customer's bags. It was in aid of Morrisons 2019 charity, CLIC SARGENT and to help fundraise for our own Arts Week. The children enjoyed chatting and packing, whilst the school was complimented on having such lovely, polite pupils - GO TEAM!! VACANCY We currently have a vacancy for a cleaner at school. Details are available at www.robinswoodtrust.co.uk/careers/ if you are interested in the post.

Taking your child out of school As one of our school values that we teach the children is honesty, we politely request that you be honest with us if you are taking your child out of school for a day trip, holiday etc. The children are often keen to talk about their experiences and it can send mixed messages if they’re told not to. We really appreciate your cooperation with this. Reporting your child’s absence Please remember to contact the school on the first day of absence and every other day thereafter. You are now able to email the school at [email protected] or alternatively, please continue to call us on 01452 530430 and select Option 1 to leave a message. Please state your child’s name, class and the reason for their absence.
