School Athletic Department

WHAT IS A “SID”?• A person who helps with distributing
information to the media, community and conference your school is associated with.
• Having an SID to assist with these tasks not only will make your athletic department stand out, but it also can help generate much needed revenue for your department.
What can a SID do for a high school athletic department?
Collect statistical data from all of your varsity coaches and enter it into MaxPreps
Release important information to your local news and media outlets
Research and compile historical data/stats from past years Compile records & accomplishments for each team for each season Publish a monthly bulletin (or newsletter) featuring your student-
athletes’ accomplishments Assist the AD with marketing and revenue generation Write articles or recaps for each team for your athletic website:

Who can make an ideal SID?• Media background• Retired sports writer• Teacher with a passion for high school sports• Effective communicator• Friendly demeanor.
How do you pay this person?• Easier than you think!
• Keep your advertisement $ in house
• Monthly bulletin – “Bull Dog Bulletin”– Articles– Photos– Athlete bios
• Incentives for ads (10%)
Bull Dog Bulletin – Advertisement Rates:
• There are 11 issues for the school year, one per month from August 2013 through June
– Quarter page ad is $40 per issue or $400 for all 11 issues (11 inserts for the price of 10)
– Half page ad is $60 per issue or $600 for full year– Full page ad is $100 per issue or $1000 for full
year
CN Model:• 2013 – 2014– Bull Dog Bulletin Sponsorships = $11,410
– Base pay for SID = $2,900
– Commission = $1,141
– Total SID Pay = $ 4,041
– Net Profit to athletic department = $7,369
Other Duties and Benefits of a SID:
• Articles & photos for web site each night• End of year recap “athletic report card”• “Minor” sports feel major• Free up more time for AD• Helps “brand” your athletic department• Recognition of your athletes
