From Staff Reports DESOTO—Thirty-three student athletes accepted college athletic scholarships today at DeSoto High School during the school’s annual National Signing Day event. “As a superintendent, you are always proud to see students taking a step forward in their educational journey, and we are extremely proud to celebrate and acknowledge the hard work and ef- forts of these three scholar-athletes who will go on to represent DeSoto High School and DeSoto ISD at their respective colleges and universities,” said DeSoto ISD Superintendent Dr. D’Andre Weaver. Surrounded by tables decked out in each student- athlete’s college of choice, DeSoto High School student-athletes’ commitments were announced to a gym full of peers, parents and community mem- bers cheering them on as they were escorted down a red carpet by friends and family members. “This an opportunity to celebrate the accomplish- ments of our student-athletes and their families as they sign athletic scholarships to compete at some of the nation’s top colleges and universities—a tes- tament to the caliber of athletic and academic ex- periences offered to DeSoto ISD scholars,” said DeSoto ISD Athletic Director Larry Davis. Adoption fees will be waived Tuesday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, Feb. 16, to help you find the “pawfect” Valentine’s date for years to come. Find- ing your four-legged “furever” date at Prairie Paws is easy with more than 70 animals from which to choose. Regular price adoptions are $70. All animals adopted will be sterilized, microchipped and will re- ceive their rabies and core vaccinations. Dogs will be tested for heartworms and given a monthly pre- vention tablet, and cats will be tested for feline leukemia and FIV. Those wishing to adopt must complete an application and be approved before re- ceiving their pets. This offer is valid only for new adoptions. DESOTO—Thirty-three student athletes accepted

School during the school’s annual National Signing

Day event. “As a superintendent, you are always
