Our Mission – why we existTo support our UK partners to recruit, develop and
retain coaches to achieve their participation andperformance goals (in the context of The UK Coaching Framework).

Summary
Our Partners – who we will work with
As the strategic UK agency for coaching, we will align our work to:
• Youth Sport Trust for increasing skilled coaching in schools
• Sport England for supporting participation goals in communities
• UK Sport for nurturing high-performance athletes.
In England, governing bodies of sport will be our national coachingsystem partners and regionally we will support county sports
partnerships. In Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, we will workwith Home Country Sports Councils.
We will develop our partnerships with the Higher and FurtherEducation sectors and other agencies to unlock funding and expertise.

To achieve our mission, we will:
champion and drive policy and investment in coaching
support and challenge our partners to improve their coaching
systems and grow their contribution to a cohesive UK coaching system
provide products and services that add value to our partners’coaching systems and their coaches
provide research and share good practice that will benefit coaching
develop quality leadership, good governance and a skilled team
to ensure an effective UK coaching agency.

Summary
To champion and drive policy and investment in coaching, we will:
1.1 help decision-makers in coaching system partners understand thecontribution skilled coaching can make to their strategies
1.2 develop coaching as a professionally regulated vocation
1.3 lobby governments, sports councils and partner agencies to embedcoaching in their plans and invest appropriately
1.4 work with our partners to motivate employers to invest in skilled coaches.

To support and challenge our partners to improve theircoaching systems and grow their contribution to a cohesiveUK coaching system, we will:
2.1 build and maintain strong and effective partnerships across the sporting landscape
2.2 provide services, based on each organisation’s need and stage of development, to help deliver their coaching objectives
2.3 champion best practice in coaching among our national partners
2.4 create effective multi-agency networks that champion coaching best practice at regional and local levels
2.5 work with partners to overcome barriers to quality coaching.

To provide products and services that add value to ourpartners’ coaching systems and their coaches, we will:
3.1 drive the development of the UK Coaching Certificate and CPD framework toimprove coaching standards
3.2 increase the opportunities of collaborative product development to streamlinehuman and physical resources
3.3 provide guidance for our partners on developing coaching systems
3.4 develop excellent coach educator programmes
3.5 provide dynamic coach learning and support that is core to all sports
3.6 effectively communicate the benefits of our products and services.

To provide research and share good practice that will benefitcoaching, we will:
4.1 identify, undertake and commission high-quality research on coaching
4.2 facilitate the sharing of coaching good practice between our partners
4.3 advocate a common approach to research and coach data collection in the sector
4.4 disseminate research and good practice in a relevant and accessible format.

To develop quality leadership, good governance and a skilledteam to ensure an effective UK coaching agency, we will:
5.1 ensure our governance meets standards of excellence
5.2 identify and control risk in conjunction with our objectives
5.3 invest in our people to ensure we have the right skills to deliver our objectives
5.4 explore and take advantage of emerging opportunities that support our strategy
5.5 undertake communications planning to promote our offer and deliver the right messages
5.6 implement the right technology and processes to maximise our effectiveness.
