BCU NETBALLBCU Netball has had a great start to the season. Not just by results, but socially and by the influx of members this year. The interest in Netball has been huge we have managed to secure 3rd team fixtures due to the high demand to the sport. We have had 2 socials. 1 in all pink as flamingos it was great to bring all the girls together and gel as a team. We also had a joint social with Hockey which was good to get to know some other teams. The 1st team have had a great start to the season being unbeaten and the 2nd team are playing consistently well and are improving game by game. We are very enthusiastic and are very excited for the rest of this season. 3rd team will soon be starting their season too.....Let see what it brings

BCU MENS RUGBY

After a tough start to the season for the boys with results not going in our favour i can proudly say that the social element of the team has stayed strong. Already this year we have ran a number of successful socials which are helping us to raise money for our team. First event of the year was after our first league game of the season, a narrow and gutting defeat against Lincoln University, it was decided that the committee would be dressing up as the fun police and the rest of the squad would be clowns, with fines being handed out to people who were having too much fun! The very same night saw bar 42 reach its potential as the bar was rammed with all sports and societies holding socials which ended up in a lot of banter being shared between the teams and leaving a very good impression upon the new freshers!

A few weeks ago now the Rugby Team held the annual toga party, this was a very anticipated event as it is always a highlight of the year, we prepared well with a lot of promotions and raising awareness of it happening, every sports team and society were allocated tickets to sell, with every ticket they sold they got £1 back into their account, for their own socials in the future. The toga party went very well with well over 200 people attending, 95% of people making the effort to create their toga's and get right into the spirit of things. The night was a huge success for everyone, and was a great fundraiser for us with the amount of people there and with the legendary auction bringing in almost £100 additional to everything else too.

Keep you eyes open for any future events!Training sessions this year have seen a lot of new players to the sport who have joined and have shown a very keen interest in playing rugby, it is great to see enthusiasm from these new boys who are learning from scratch, with a few of them already impressing so much that they have had game time already this season. We are always looking for new players, experienced or not, everyone is more than welcome, for more information don't hesitate to get in contact:Dom: 07525326215 / [email protected]

RAGChildren in Need:

We want to raise as much money as possible for Children in Need and we need your help!!!!!

What do we have planned?

A Fun Run - A 2 mile run from the Pavilion to Bar 42. Running isn't usually the most fun thing to do, but we want to make it fun! Whack on some fancy dress, bright colours,

maybe even do it 3 legged! The choice is yours! This will start from the Pavillion at 4.30 and will be £2 to enter!

Fun and Games in Bar 42 - We are hoping to have lots of different stalls inside Bar 42. Examples could be a cake stall, live leg wax, face painting! These will be run by

societies and sports teams, so if you are a member and interested in having a stall get in contact with us. All ideas are welcome :)

Children in Need showing on the big screen :) if we manage to raise lots of money we may even get a cheeky mention on the show!!

Entry to Bar 42 will be free, but we will be collecting charitable donations from you all throughout the evening, so bring some pennies (or pounds!)

Operation Christmas ChildWe are running operation Christmas child this year and all we would like you join in!!

Please ask Rinda, Charl or Heather for more information to take part!
