12.8. Toowoomba and District Primary School Chess Tournament, Tuesday, 4 September 2012.

Well done to our Chess Teams on a fine representation of Toowoomba Prep at the Toowoomba Chess Championships. Prep’s A division team was awarded second overall, by the slightest margin of half a point. Well done to all competitions, and congratulations to the A Team, Shay Morton, Gaurav Ramnanan, Noah Orford and Jack Wagner on their successes. The four boys will now go on to represent Toowoomba in the State Chess Championships. We ask the boys to please bring to school their trophies on Thursday, 13 September so that we can take a group photo with the other representative teams.

12.9. Queensland Primary Schools Touch, CLEVELAND SHOWGROUNDS – REDLANDS, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November

At this point we have listed three teams of boys and three teams of girls. Any child not on the list is welcome to train and we will be looking at the possibility of adding teams to the competition if required. The only limitation is seats on the bus, so if we have people travelling down to the event and back we can fit more children into the competition.

This will be the third year that Toowoomba Prep has attended the QPST. Each team is put into a Group or Pool. On the Saturday we play the preliminary rounds, 3 or 4 games. The past two years we have asked for early games, departing at 5:00 am, and have been back in Toowoomba by 2:30 pm. Sunday is the knock out part of the tournament. When you lose on the Sunday you are out. They have a three tiered competition on the Sunday e.g. if you finish third in your pool you generally play all the other teams that finished third. Also there is a trophy, a shield and a plate final on the Sunday. The teams listed below are only for record purposes and are not necessarily the final team selections.

12.15. Netball Canteen Duty -Please Help

Thank you to Trina Sands, Naomi Golden, Andrea Genest, Bethany Graham and Ali Drysdale for offering to assist with our final Canteen Duty for the season. Our last Canteen duty is from 11:00am – 12:15pm, and directly following that, we get to watch our U12a Team Drysdales fight for victory in the Grand Final match from 12:15 to 1:30pm. If any parents or coaches can also assist with duty for the day, it would be a huge help, and then we can all watch the Grand Finals together. Please call or email the front Office if you are able to help out.

12.16. Netball Fixtures – Grand Final Time!!!

Congratulations to all of our Teams on making it through to the end of the Season with such style!

• Our Netta teams had a great last game followed by a sausage sizzle on the weekend which is not a bad way to end the season, as I was told by a few sauce covered smiles.

• Team Parker played an amazing 4 quarters, only to get knocked out in the last quarter by the smallest of margins. Well done on a great effort by Coach Parker and the Team.

Now we are at the business end, as Team Drysdale plays against Rata Kristin in the Grand Finals at 12:15pm on Saturday. Good luck to the team…

Coach Ali Drysdale, Phoebe Allpass, Lucy Arnott, Hillary Ballinger, Jessica Bridle, Lizzie Chicalas, Jessica Curran, Isabel Golden, Felicity House, Hayley Smyth and Gemma Somerset!

If you are able to come and support the team, please do … we want as many Prepies there as we can to bring the team home!
