Territory sides deck ACTByPETERTIFFEN

THE Northern Territory has chalked

up wins against the ACT at the

Optus 12-years Australian Teams Ten-

nis Championships.

The NT boys side beat ACT 3-0 in the

Rod Laver Cup at Melbourne Park.

Kaelen Bates decked Jordan

Hedington 6-0 6-3, Ben Lye beat Mwiga

Kippaya 6-0 6-2 and the NT pair com-

bined to down Pat Wielemborek and

Hedington 6-3 7-5 in the doubles.

But the NT suffered a 3-0 loss to

Victoria and went down 2-1 to both

Queensland and Western Australia in

its other matches.

In the Margaret Court Cup the girls’

team beat the other territory 2-1.

Melanie Usher decked Imogen Clews

6-3 6-1 and Tenille Waters swept aside
