ABOUT US TEAM PRATYUNMIS is the ROBOTICS TEAM of BIT MESRA,
RANCHI that takes part annually in the Asia’s biggest robotics
contest- ABU ROBOCON. The team comprises of 35 intuitive and innovative engineers from

SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL
Team Pratyunmis is the robotics club of BIT Mesra, Ranchi
that takes part annually in the Asia’s biggest robotics contest:
ABU ROBOCON. The team comprises of 35 ingenious engineers
from different departments and batches brimming with technical
knowledge, practical approach and management skills.
Apart from this our team organizes various workshops and
challenging events in fests organized in our college. Our team
members take part in various technical events of other colleges’
fests.
The Team’s debut in ABU-ROBOCON was in the year 2013
where our team’s design and approach was highly appreciated in
the international arena. The team continued its journey and
participated for the second time in 2014. We remained unbeaten
and secured 36th rank out of 90 teams.
But we did not stop there. In the team’s third attempt in 2015,
there was a big improvement where we scored 9th rank out of 89
teams and bagged the best non-quarter finalist of the tournament.
Apart from this we were awarded by Mathworks for implementing
automation using digital image processing. We took innovation to
next level in 2016 by successfully implementing rodless
pneumatic for the task of pole climbing.

What is ABU Robocon?
ROBOCON is organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting
Unit (ABU). It was started in 2002 and is presently the
largest Robotics competition in the world with over 1500+
teams participating worldwide. Every year the organization comes up with a new problem
statement. The variation and the standard of problem statement
gives ample opportunity to learn and implement various techni-
cal skills and inculcates managerial capabilities. The team winning the national leg of the competition
rep-resents the country in the international stage.

THE GREEN PLANET
A SALUTE TO PARENTHOOD With this theme, ROBOCON had a message to share, “Each
nation is a piece of the puzzle that forms the world; the
responsibility to protect the earth thus lies on the shoulder of
each person living on it. According to the problem statement,
two robots were to be made (one manual & the other
autonomous) that could synchronously perform various tasks
and attain the “Green Planet”

Parenthood is the greatest boon offered to mankind by Mother
Nature. Parenthood bestows a wide range of experiences that
offer love, security, stimulation, encouragement and
opportunities to help a child flourish and grow to achieve its
full potential. Two robots (Parent Robot & Child Robot) were
to be made. Parent Robot took the child robot into the park and
let it play.

ROBOT
The motive of this contest theme is badminton’s doubles
game. The highlight of this game was how the two robots hit
and hit back shuttle by collaborating each other. The ro-bot
with unique way of hitting shuttle can be entertaining. Two
semi-automatic robots were made that could play the game of
badminton with the robots of opponent team. BIT Mesra
proved its excellence by developing the robot that could
predict the trajectory of the cock and hit it back. National Host: MIT Pune Rank: 9th (87 Teams) International Host: Indonesia
CLEAN ENERGY RECHARGING THE WORLD
ABU Robocon 2016 was designed to create the awareness of
efficient energy consumption and clean and renew-able
energy utilization. Each team had to build two robots; Eco
Robot & Hybrid Robot. Eco Robot received the driving
energy from Hybrid Robot. Besides providing driving energy
to Eco Robot, Hybrid Robot had to take Wind Turbine
Propeller from Eco Robot and climb up Wind Turbine Pole
in order to assemble Wind Turbine. The team set a new
benchmark as it successfully implemented pneumatics
arrangement for pole climbing. National Host: MIT Pune

ROBOCON ’17 PRATYUNMIS 5.0
THE LANDING DISC
The theme of ABU ASIA-PACIFIC ROBOCON 2017 was
“Asobi”(play) which encouraged playful and original robot
designs. In the game field there were 7 spots each consisting
of a circular table placed on various heights. A beach ball
was placed at the center of each circular table. The robots of
each team had to collect discs from the loading zone and
then throw the discs on any spot so as to knock off the ball
from the spot.

PROBLEM STATEMENT Teams of Robocon’18 have to design two robots, one automatic and one automatic or manual; and shuttlecocks. Each game will last for 3 minutes between two teams where the automatic robot of each team has to throw shuttlecock with the aim to shoot it through the rings present in the arena and score points. There are two types of rings, normal ring and golden ring. The first team which is able to shoot the shuttlecock through the golden ring and land it on the golden cup within the specified time limit of 3 minutes, triggers the RONG BAY (The flying dragon) condition and is declared the winner of the game.
In case no team is able to reach RONG BAY condition within the time limit, the team with maximum number of points is declared the winner.

Our members participate in various technical events of
other Colleges. For ex-ample, last year a group of our
members bagged 2nd position in ‘Pixelate’ which was
a competition organized by IIT Bombay. With talent
pool and high performance standards we have,
sponsors backing us get a fair share of lime light.
Our Social Media presence is heavily acknowledged
whether it is Facebook, LinkdIn or Youtube. Along
with our website traffic yet again gives our sponsors a

Team Pratyunmis has shown remarkable progress during the last four years of its
participation in ABU-ROBOCON. It has served as a gateway of exposure to the
students of the institute to practical implications of several new techno-logical

Team Pratyunmis has set a new trend of application and
competition based robotics in BIT Mesra. Many students
have been motivated to learn, innovate and implement
various technologies, thus, getting an edge in their techni-
cal involvement. It has also set a brilliant example of team
spirit for other students to follow. I wish the members a
great journey ahead in securing an even better position in

AUTOMATED QUADCOPTER
How cool would it be if we point at a direction and our drone could
stand stable there for as long as one wants. Very useful in any
sector, just name it.
SEGWAY
The idea is to replicate a Segway, first as a prototype and then
to manufacture it in a much cheaper price.
KUKA ROBOT
The idea is to study its control, therefore customize it to one’s
own requirement.

Team Pratyunmis is the official ABU Robocon
