2019 marks the 60th Anniversary of the Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (RIHED), now under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), as well as the 10th Anniversary of our flagship Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme. To celebrate these important milestones in the region, we are organising a special Southeast Asian Higher Education (SEA-HiEd) Week from 11-15 November 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, where the world’s higher education community is invited to gather together to learn, exchange ideas and celebrate the region’s achievements and future progress.

SEAMEO RIHED’s 2019 SEA-HiEd Week will take place at the Hotel Nikko and features a full event programme that includes the 10th Anniversary Celebrations of the AIMS Programme, a new Inter-Regional Higher Education Research Symposium and Southeast Asian Higher Education Expo in addition to our own 60th Anniversary Celebrations and Gala Dinner. These and many other impressive events during SEA-HiEd Week will provide a dynamic platform for you to connect with regional and global stakeholders in higher education and enhance the visibility and awareness of your brand to a diverse community.

Anniversary Celebrations

SEA-HiEd Week kicks off on Monday morning with special Celebrations including RIHED’s 60th Anniversary and the 10th Anniversary of our Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme.

200 or more senior government officials, representatives of Embassies and Higher Education Institutions from the region and beyond, as well as partner organisations and colleagues of SEAMEO RIHED are expected to join.

AIMS Annual Review Meeting Continued

Tuesday 12 November 2019 continues with the 13th Annual Review Meeting of the AIMS Programme and several activities designed to reinvigorate the image and visibility of the AIMS Programme through a Logo Design Contest, AIMS Student Speech Contest and Student Forum.

13th Annual Review Meeting of the AIMS Programme

Beginning in the afternoon, the 13th Annual Review Meeting runs from Monday through Wednesday and brings all AIMS stakeholders together.

The AIMS Programme currently comprises 8 Member Countries (Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) as well as 75 participating universities. Approximately 200 Representatives from all Member Countries and participating institutions as well as AIMS students will attend.

60th RIHED Gala Dinner

In the evening, RIHED will celebrate its 60 years of achievements and look forward to the organization’s future through a special Gala Dinner.

This event will be by invitation only.

AIMS Night

In the evening, all AIMS Stakeholders are invited up to Pool Terrace on the 6th Floor for the AIMS Night, which will offer a beautiful view and important opportunity to celebrate one of the most succesful student mobility schemes in the region.

More than 100 senior officials and national authorities in higher education as well as educators, university leaders, and students connected to the AIMS Programme are expected.

SEAMEO RIHED’s SEA-HiEd Expo

Monday morning also sees the kick-off of SEAMEO RIHED’s SEA-HiEd Expo, which will run from Monday 11 November through Thursday 14 November 2019.

30 Exhibitors and over 500 visitors are expected over the 4 days of the Expo.

SEA-HiEd Student Forum on Mobility and Employability

Don’t miss this opportunity to discover different perspectives on future employability, promoting global citizenship among students as well as the impact of mobility on tomorrow’s leaders of society and industry.

SEA-HiEd Inter-Regional Research Symposium

The SEAMEO RIHED SEA-HiEd Inter-Regional Research Symposium will be held on 14-15 November 2019 and will bring together new and experienced researchers from around the world to explore the current state and future directions of higher education.

UMAP Board Meeting

UMAP will hold its annual Board Meeting in conjunction with the SEA-HiEd Week.

UMAP Intercontinental Symposium

The annual University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) Intercontinental Symposium will be hosted by Thailand as part of the SEA-HiEd Week.

UMAP has a current membership of over 570 universities across the Asia Pacific region.

SEA-HiEd Inter-Regional Research Symposium Continued

Over the course of two days, the Symposium will help to facilitate discussion about original research, foster dialogue about research community partnerships and provide opportunities for emerging as well as seasoned researchers to promote their work and inter-disciplinary collaboration.

200 or more regional and international attendees are expected for the SEAMEO RIHED SEA-HiEd Inter-Regional Research Symposium over the two days.
