Premier’s Food Awards “The people we are honoring produce food that can be found all over the world: at local farmers’ markets; on the shelves of retail giants; in five-star hotels; in the finest restaurants; on the plates of gastronomic gurus. More than that, they are part of a food industry that has injected more than $10 billion into our State’s economy over the past decade and that accounts for nearly one in every five jobs in South Australia. Introduction The Premier’s Food Awards recognise outstanding achievement and excellence in the South Australian food industry. They reward businesses and individuals that have demonstrated vision, leadership and innovation in their field. The Awards profile success and support growth within the South Australian food industry by instilling a sense of pride in the people that make up our industry. They strengthen industry and government partnerships and underpin the strategies of the South Australian Food Plan. Over the past decade these prestigious Awards have contributed to increasing South Australia’s food culture by giving profile and credibility to the industry and individual businesses. They provide a benchmark to which all South Australian food businesses can aspire and celebrate an innovative industry that contributes to the economic and social fabric of our State. The Adelaide Convention Centre was transformed into a Broadway spectacular, where a record number of 520 guests dined on a five course retro inspired menu featuring finalist produce. Miss Rhonda Burchmore was dazzling as she entertained the guests with four fabulous songs including the very special rendition of ‘There’s no business like food business’. Joanna Savill was our marvelous MC and was honored to be associated with the South Australian food industry.

The Eleventh Annual South Australian Premier’s Food Awards The theme for 2008 is ‘growth’. Holistically the Awards will consider the environment and ‘green’ initiatives incorporating a myriad of ideas and practices. PIRSA and the State Government of South Australia have an Environmental Policy which aims to green business operations to reduce the environmental footprint for current and future generations of employees and the South Australian community. The Awards presentation gala dinner will be another special celebration for the South Australian Food Industry incorporating the ‘green’ theme and reducing our carbon emissions in our usual spectacular style. We are excited to announce that the menu will investigate food miles and use local organic produce.

Sponsorship Benefits The following benefits are offered to sponsors depending on the level of sponsorship. Corporate Profile and Goodwill The community, business leaders and the media are aware of the importance of a dynamic food industry to the future prosperity of South Australia. The Premier’s Food Awards seek to profile both the importance of the food industry and the individuals and companies that are leaders in their fields. Sponsorship of these awards is likely to generate a significant amount of community goodwill for the sponsor within the food industry and within the general community. Publicity State-wide publicity through advertising, editorial and radio interviews in various mediums and publications* will be used to promote previous years winners, announce the current awards, remind intending applicants of the deadline for entries, announce finalists in each of the categories, promote the Awards Presentation Gala Dinner and to announce the winners. Sumptuous Television

• For repeat sponsors with Sumptuous benefit - coverage of your 2007 winner or finalist in a three minute segment on Sumptuous television. In this segment the winner or finalist will mention sponsorship by your company. In addition, the full name of the award will appear on-screen including your organisation’s logo. This gives enormous added exposure to your organisation through Sumptuous Television, which will be on-air on Channel 9 Adelaide.

• All finalists in each category will be listed on-screen under the sponsorship category title. • Footage of the Sumptuous Television segment will be made available to you for your own use for corporate or marketing purposes. • For new sponsors – it will be announced that the category in 2008 will be sponsored by … (your

company). In the case of an existing category with a new sponsor, the 2007 category winner or finalist will be profiled. Your organisation as the new sponsor of the category will be mentioned as the award becoming your organisation’s award. Your organisation logo will appear on-screen in words.

Sumptuous Magazine • A profile of your Award category’s winner and/or finalist will appear in Sumptuous magazine if selected during 2008. This profile feature story will be branded Premier’s Food Awards and will be strongly connected to your organisation through the appearance of your logo on the story. • The story will include: ‘This Award is proudly sponsored by [your company name]. • Your company logo will appear. • The story will also include recognition of your company, as the winner/finalist will be requested to talk briefly about their category sponsor.

Excellence Award Categories Sponsors will ‘own’ designated awards through naming rights. Sponsors may choose to sponsor more than one category as part of a sponsorship package. Sponsor Logo Sponsor logos will be included on all printed collateral subject to confirmation of sponsorship prior to printing deadlines. Sponsorship logos will also be incorporated into signage, program/menus and on-screen display at the Awards Presentation Gala Dinner. Sponsor logos will be used in all advertising (where possible) and on all published materials including web sites. Judging Sponsors are asked to nominate a representative to be a member of the judging panel (excluding Hall of Fame) in the sponsored Award category. This includes pre-selection of finalists, site visits and the final selection of the winning entrant. Any conflict of interest must be advised. Awards Presentation Gala Dinner The Eleventh Awards Presentation Gala Dinner will be held at a convenient Adelaide venue in October or November 2008. The Premier of South Australia will be invited to host the event. Prominent members of Parliament, government and business will also be in attendance. Sponsors will:

• receive complimentary tickets; • be given the opportunity to speak; • present finalists and winners with framed certificates; • photo opportunity with finalists and winners.


Kudos Club Introduced two years ago the Kudos Club is the name of the alliance between winners, sponsors and the South Australian food industry. Each year winners and sponsors become members into the Club and benefit from different events held throughout the year. It gives valuable networking opportunities and includes but is not limited to attendance at the launch and the sponsors thank you function. It also includes a host of other events aligned to the South Australian food industry and other networking opportunities.
