April, 2013It is with great pleasure that we present Ratio Theatre Company’s fifth Season!

We are extremely proud to partner with Tryon Palace as part of the Tryon Palace Performing Arts Series for three of this season’s four mainstage

productions! We believe this affiliation has and will help enhance our artistic presentation and expand our presence in the community. Ratio is New Bern’s only full-time resident professional theatre company and we have established a reputation for excellence in eastern North Carolina.

Ratio, now 4 seasons strong, has been bringing significant playwright and actor centered plays to New Bern. We are extremely proud of the gracious and encouraging comments from our audiences.

With Season 5, we begin to round out our full compliment of programming, fulfilling our 5 year vision for the growth of Ratio Theatre Company. This year,

in addition to our four mainstage productions, we will be implementing our TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) program as our educational outreach. We expect to bring high quality, professional theatre to

students all over eastern North Carolina with special components to specifically engage

our 21st century learners.This spring Ratio will bring 30

children to the stage to perform our second Brundibar project. Brundibar, is a rarely produced children’s opera first performed by Ratio in

2011 expanding the horizons and the abilities of young people as well as our audience.

We will also be realizing our vision of presenting the masters in our Classics Series. This series will present works from the Greeks to Shakespeare and contemporary masters like Ibsen, Chekhov, Genet, and Willson.

Prior to the establishment of Ratio Theatre Company, residents of Eastern North Carolina would have to look to Raleigh or Charlotte for professional theatre and cultural events. It is also our goal to have a positive impact on the region’s economy by, whenever possible, hiring performers and technical staff from the local area.
