Since 1989, The Mount Carmel Foundation has hosted Champagne and Diamonds, a fundraising gala to help meet the unique healthcare needs in our community. One of central Ohio’s most engaging gala events, Champagne and Diamonds, brings Mount Carmel physicians, corporate leaders and community advocates together in support of Mount Carmel Foundation programs.

In 2020, our beneficiary for Champagne and Diamonds is innovative Cardiac Services at Mount Carmel Heart and Vascular Centers. Through these initiatives and more, we will continue to raise the bar for delivering high quality cardiac care. At the same time, we are committed to increasing our patient education efforts and placing a greater focus on prevention.

Shocking, but true is the fact every 40 seconds an American will have a heart attack. Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death in the United States. The facts cannot be ignored and Mount Carmel’s Heart & Vascular Centers are dedicated to help treat and prevent cardiovascular disease.

There are approximately 5.3 million Americans who have atrial fibrillation and the number is growing at an alarming rate. Mount Carmel’s Electrophysiology program has become a national leader in this area becoming the first ever program in North America to be accredited by the American College of Cardiology.

Mount Carmel Heart and Vascular Center physicians continually set the standard as witnessed by the awards and recognition they receive. For the last three years the Central Ohio American Heart Association’s Ignite Award has honored Kevin Hackett, MD for achievement in Electrophysiology, Noah Jones, MD for achievement in Structural Heart, and Thomas Archer, MD for achievement in Congestive Heart Failure.

The Heart and Vascular Centers are located regionally closest to the most at risk markets in central Ohio. Seconds count for patients with cardiovascular disease.

WOMEN’S HEART CLINICMount Carmel will launch a new Women’s Heart Clinic. This comprehensive approach and innovative care models will improve the health of women through primary and secondary prevention. In fall 2020, Mount Carmel Heart and Vascular programs will host a Women’s Heart Educational Symposium.

24/7 URGENT CARDIAC CARE CENTERIt is estimated 6.2 million American’s live with Congestive Heart Failure and it is one of the leading causes for both admission and readmissions to hospitals. Mount Carmel is looking at new and innovative ways to care for these patients, such as a 24/7 Urgent Cardiac Care Clinic.

A 24/7 Urgent Cardiac Care Clinic would provide Congestive Heart Failure patients, as well as many other types of cardiovascular patients, immediate access to care without the need for an appointment. This immediate access would prevent many patients from being admitted to a hospital for their cardiovascular problems. It would also create peace of mind for many patients whose anxiety can further exacerbate their condition.

The symposium will take place in the fall of 2020. Hosted by Mount Carmel Heart & Vascular Centers, it will be the first of its kind in central Ohio. This will be an opportunity for community members to engage in a full-day gathering to discuss various aspects of women’s heart disease and lifestyle. In addition, there will be specialty area discussions such as cardio-obstetrics, which is primarily due to the increase of obesity and issues related to obesity in pregnant women that affect the heart.
