Maker{Move} is a hands-on mobile workshop, designed to engage children in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) in educational and community settings.

Young makers (3-16 year olds) are able to engage with a range of age appropriate maker stations featuring a variety of activities, tools and challenges. From hand tools to 3D printers, robotics to engineering problems, students work individually and collaboratively to experience a range of 21st century skills.

Why is maker education important?

Creativity, problem solving and critical thinking are among the top employability skills required for the future jobs market. It is important that young people are able to develop these key skills together with an understanding of technology, engineering and the digital world. Makerspaces provide the opportunity to explore, tinker and problem solve in a collaborative way.

Mobile Makerspace

Maker{Move} is a mobile makerspace, designed to pack neatly into the Maker{Move} van, meaning we can take it into the heart of the community and set up a ‘pop-up’ makerspace where needed. Schools, museums and libraries are able to experience first hand the benefits of makerspaces. We provide every setting visited with their own Maker{Kit} together with free support and guidance in how to start their own makerspace.

Maker{Move} is part of an ambitious new project called Maker{Futures}. Developed by The University of Sheffield, Maker{Futures} supports and promotes maker education in schools, libraries and museums.
