LAW, JUSTICE AND DEVELOPMENT WEEK 2018RIGHTS, PROTECTION AND DEVELOPMENT

The Law, Justice and Development (LJD) Week is the only event of its kind, bringing together the global community engaged in using law and legal tools to contribute to development. It is organized by the legal functions of the World Bank Group, in collaboration with partners of the Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development and other international finance, knowledge and innovation actors.

The event convenes a broad community of development professionals, including those attending the General Counsel Roundtable bringing to-gether either general counsel or heads of the legal departments of over 40 International Financial Institutions, and partners of the Global Forum.

LJD Week offers exceptional opportunities:

• To connect with top legal professionals in the development commu-nity.

• To showcase products and programs related to this unique audience.

INVITATION

LJD Week 2018 will focus on the overarching theme “Rights, Protec-tion and Development” and will:

• Explore the link between rights and protection to economically empower disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals and groups.

• Examine how upholding rights and protection may affect devel-opment outcomes, especially in fragile contexts, and how such approach may contribute to reducing poverty and boosting prosperity with a focus on the impact for refugees.

• Identify the role multilateral institutions, non-governmental orga-nizations and the private sector may play in advancing rights and protection.
