• Confidential Invention Disclosure Form (CIDF) submitted to CURF
• CURF Technology Commercialization Officer (TCO) assigned to case
• TCO conducts preliminary review with inventors• CIDF submitted to Intellectual Property
Subcommittee (IPS) for review• IPS recommends action to CURF• CURF manages protecting, marketing and
commercializing invention

• Public disclosure includes:– Journal article– Presentation at public meeting– Thesis or dissertation defense– Awarded research grant or contract– Public use or offer to sell in the U.S.
• Absolute bar to foreign patent rights• Can retain U.S. IP rights only if patent
