1947 could be called a very eventful year for

India as it gained independence from the Brit-

ish crown. This resulted in the split of India and

Pakistan. After partition majority of Thathai

Bhatia’s settled in Bombay.

..”Closing the door, turning the page, moving

on. It doesn’t matter what we call it – what mat-

ters is that we leave the past where it belongs

so we can make the best of the life that’s still

available to be lived. This ending we had ex-

perienced is not THE END, it’s just our life

beginning again in a new way. It’s a point in

our story where one chapter transitions into the

next”.

Elders of our Thathai Bhatia Community had

decided together to revive Shewa Fund in

Bombay, & registered Shewa Fund Trust in

Bombay with around 125 Members on 20th May

1953. It was the beginning of a new chapter.

Activities restarted in two fields Education &

Medical., In 1958-59 Pioneers Shri Visandas

Sadh, Shri Thaerdas Kikla, Shri Mohandas

Khira, Shri Haridas Gandhi, Shri Ram Lilwa,

Shri Chatrabhuj Bhatia & Shri Gopal J. Gandhi

succeeded in bringing back Shewafund, and

introducing more activities in welfare for the

people of Thathai Bhatia..

Philanthropist leaders from our community had

come forward to help aspirant students for

higher studies & introducing earning opportu-

nities for Thathai Bhatia ladies & given sewing

machins on Loans.

In 1961 our first annual get together with 700

Members held at Sion Bombay. Entertainment

programme was arranged, Merit prize were dis-

tributed to distinguished Students. Golden Ju-

bilee function on 2nd October 1969 was held in

Kandivali on a very grand scale and kept alive

the memory of self-less service of Shewafund.

During this period our community’s selfless stal-

warts came forward in mid of December 1966

with a nobel idea to have our own Building .

This Idea blossomed suddenly into bright pos-

sibi l i ty when generous members Shri

Khushaldas V. Dagara, Tulsidas Fatehchand &

Shri Haridas Kewalram came forward ………!

The Plot at Kandivali, measuring 5507 sq. feet

yards was purchased in November 1969. Shri

Madan G. Kikla had finalized the land deal in

record time in July1970. On auspicious day of

Basant Panchmi, dated 31st January 1971,

Foundation Muharat was performed. Funds for

building poured in from all sides, remarkable

contribution was also received from Thathai

Hindu Mercantile Community Baharain. Shree

Hiranand R. Gajria had donated large amount

of cash when funds were needed for construc-

tion of building. Shree Iswardas Haridas Bhatia

had taken responsibility to look after the entire

building activity. Within 4years in 1975, 3 Halls

were built up. Occupation certificate was re-

ceived. Dagra Matushri Mandir Hall, Shri

Hiranand Kewalram Hall and Smt. Kalavati

Maghanmal Hall, Our people started using these

Halls for various social functions . Our Elders

dream to own our own Premises for our Thathai

Bhatia community with strong sentimental val-

ues, & toil had been built in heart of Kandivli

Mumbai ! Thathai Bhatia Shewa Fund ! This is

the brief story of after Partition, 1947 !

IS ALSO A BEGINNINGEditor

CELEBRATION AT

KAALINDI NURSERY

I got an opportunity to join Yoga Shibir at ThathaiBhatia Shewa Fund. This Yoga Shibir was for7days, 6th March 2017 to 12 th March 2017arranged by Maharshi Pat anjali Yoga Mandal ,Mumbai.Timing of this yoga shibir was 6am to8am. I found, it is perfect for beginners. YogaTeacher Shri Manhar Pandya explains each &every Asans step by step and it helps all newstudents in learning with perfection. Theobservation table for live demonstration of YogaAsans with description can be a good guidelineto see one’s progress in learning & doing theAsans, it can also minimize difficulties in doing mostof Asans.

Along with yoga lessons I myself discover innerstrength, learn self discipline, become punctual andwas everyday reaching at TBSF premises before6am & learn the value of time & develop positiveattitude ! The volunteers over here are the greatinspiration, who teaches lessons for alignment, modifications, advanced and easier variations...And there is such a positive vibe. After learningYoga Asans & discipline, I realize Yoga is slowingdown the effects of aging. By keeping myself activewith yoga Asans & positive thinking, it is possibleto lead healthy & happy life. By practicing yogaregularly, I can overcome impatience, experiencingimprovement in concentration, relaxation &tranquility.

The discourse by Shri Swami Asanganandji teaches me to live a fruitful life as a real Humanbeing. Strength, purity of thought and unselfishnesswill help me to live meaningful life, health is moreimportant than wealth. People of all ages canparticipate in the practice of yoga. Yoga is said toeven have positive effects to keep a person sound& safe.

This 7 days Yoga Shibir costs nothing but enrichme with valuable virtues. I share my experiencehere to spread this high valued heritage. who arewilling to attend this one week Yoga Shibir atThathai Bhatia Premises, please send your Name, mobile Number [email protected].
