• ~Community Service Opportunity ~ The 22nd Annual Foothill CLEAN-UP Day is scheduled for Saturday,

November 4, from 9:00 to 12 noon on “Make a Difference Day”. “Make a Difference” by sprucing up the Foothill Community. • Sophomores – Applications are now available for HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar). Open to

all 10th graders, HOBY motivates and develops future student leaders, preparing them for positions in their schools and communities. While attending this all-expense paid 3-day seminar, students are introduced to distinguished community leaders from various sectors of business, technology, education, government, arts & science. Pick up an application from your English teacher or Mrs. Mulvoy in the Administration office. Deadline to apply is Nov. 14, 2017.

CLUBS

• Students who would be interested in learning more about tobacco, e-cigarettes and hookah smoking and how

effects your health there is a TUPE (Tobacco Use Prevention and Education) program meeting every Tuesday lunch in room 1106. All are welcome, pizza provided.

• Tuesday, October 24th in room 5204 at lunch is Spanish Club. Become immersed in the Spanish culture, complete with a slideshow on a Spanish speaking country.

• Join Operation Smile for our meeting during lunch this Wednesday, October 25th in Ms. Choi’s room 5208. Bring a smile and a friend. Don’t forget officer applications are due this Wednesday.

• We are happy to announce that the Latinos del Futuros Club’s first official meeting is Wednesday, October 25th in room 7101. All students are welcome and light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you all there!

• Attention all: Mark your calendars. GUSD is holding its annual College and Career Fair on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Glendale Civic Auditorium located at 1401 N. Verdugo Rd., in Glendale (across from Glendale Community College). Admission and parking are free. College/University representatives and career professionals will be available to answer questions about college requirements and career paths. Glendale Community College will also offer a Financial Aid presentation from 6:00 to 700 p.m. Don’t miss out.

• The Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project (APYLP), a non-profit organization, is inviting interested Asian

and Pacific Islander American students to apply for the high school conference offering group workshops on leadership development, cultural identity, and awareness, the legislative process and public speaking skills as well as an opportunity to participate in mock legislative sessions and to hear from elected officials and prominent speakers from the statewide applicants to participate in the all-expenses-paid conference on March 22-25, 2018 in Sacramento.
