Quick History 1941 ~ Grand Coulee Dam Hydro-electric project extirpates salmon and steelhead.

1941 to Early 1980’s ~ Resident fishery impacted by reservoir operations. Early fish stocking attempts deemed un-viable.

Early 1980’s ~ Rainbow trout net pen planting begins through grass root efforts by local residents, LRDA formed.

1980 ~ Congress enacted NWPP&C Act; Protect Mitigate and Enhance fish & wildlife.

1986 - 1987 ~ Kokanee salmon and rainbow trout artificial production identified as mitigation vehicle, amended into the 1987 CBF&WP

1988 - 1990 ~ LRHCT Formed, Spokane Tribe and WDF&W enter into agreements' with BPA for construction of Spokane Tribal and Sherman Creek Hatcheries and long term O&M funding.

1991 - 1992 ~ Spokane Tribal and Sherman Creek facilities go online.

1994 ~ Lake Roosevelt Net Pen Program receives BPA funding.

Spokane Tribal Hatchery receives annual allotment of 1 Million Triploid eggs from WDFW Spokane Hatchery in February.

All fish reared at Spokane Tribal Hatchery until June/July (50 /lb).

300,000 adipose clipped fish (50/lb) are transferred to Sherman

Creek Hatchery in June/July.

Spokane Tribal Hatchery retains 450,000 for additional hatchery rearing and adipose fin clipping June - Oct.

Transferred to Kettle Falls, Colville River, and Hunters net pens in October (15/lb).

Transferred to Hall Creek, Two Rivers, Seven Bays, Lincoln, and Keller Ferry net pens in October (15/lb).

750K Net pen release end of May (5/lb)
