Igot your letter with all thejuicy details about your

Ebony & Ivory lifestyle.Sounded like an episode ofJerry Springer.

I asked Christopher forsome good gossip:

• Jo facilitated Clyde’smother picking him up andtaking him home toKentucky.

• U.S. Marshalls were onthe hunt for Josh Smith andhis mother.

Christopher had his herniasurgery, and I stayed atDanny and Jaysin’s to helptake care of him.

Christopher has been busymaking plans for a big birth-day bash for Danielle. He’sbeen working a lot as well forUnited Way. If he can stay ontop of the invoicing, he shouldmake a lot of money. I havenot been getting many hoursat the hotel, which I includedsome photos of for you. I needto start looking for anotherjob, so I can save some moneyto move back to Columbus.

I am so confused by theprison mail policy. I just gotback the money order that Ihad resent to Indiana, but itcame from Gilmer. It included

a form with reasons whysomething may be returned, but they didn’t mark any ofthe reasons. So I have no ideawhy they won’t give you this.Gonna try and call the prisonand find out. Take care andlots of love!

MTV cancelled its West Virginia-basedreality TV show “BUCKWILD” a weekafter the accidental death of 21-year-oldstar Shain Gandee.

Network spokesman Jake Urbanskiconfirmed the news, saying it was “not aneasy decision.”

“But given Shain’s tragic passing andessential presence on the show, we felt itwas not appropriate to continue withouthim,” the network said. “Instead, we areworking on a meaningful way to pay trib-ute to his memory.”

MTV has aired a special, “BUCKWILD:WV to the NYC,” which was shot beforesecond-season filming had begun. Thenetwork said Shain’s parents, Dale andLoretta Gandee, support the move.

Gandee and two others were found deadof carbon monoxide poisoning on April 1.Gandee’s SUV was stuck in a mud pitnear his home in Sissonville, its tail pipesubmerged. That could have allowed theinvisible gas to fill the vehicle’s cabin.

Gandee, his 48-year-old uncle, DavidGandee, and 27-year-old friend Donald

Robert Myershad lastbeen seenleaving abar at 3a . m .March

31.

Shain Gandee (pictured top right and inthe center above), nicknamed “GandeeCandy” by fans, was a breakout star ofthe show that followed the antics ofyoung friends enjoying their wild countrylifestyle. Season one was filmed last year, mostly around Sissonville andCharleston.

Gandee favored four-wheelers, pickupsand SUVs over cellphones and comput-ers, and “mudding,” or off-road driving, was one of his favorite pastimes. It wasno coincidence some mourners arrived inmud-splattered trucks.

Shooting was underway on season twoat the time of Gandee’s death, but MTVsaid film crews were not with him overEaster weekend and hadn’t filmed himsince earlier that week.

Some fans reacted angrily to the deci-sion on social media, launching a cam-paign to keep the show. Cast memberCara Parrish was among those objecting.

“I think MTV should show reality.Losing Shain broke all our hearts,”

Parrish tweeted.Although the idea of filming with-out Gandee “hurts me clearthrough my soul,” she wrote, “thethought of turning our backs onhis dreams is worse.”

But many others, includingsome at Gandee’s funeral, saidthe show just wouldn’t havebeen the same without him.

Shain Gandee was the third“BUCKWILD” cast member tomake unwanted headlines.

Last month, 24-year-oldSalwa Amin violated the terms

of her bond following a Februaryarrest on drug charges.

Another cast mate, Michael DouglasBurford, was charged in Februarywith driving under the influence.

Some detractors, including U.S.Sen. and former West Virginia Gov.Joe Manchin, had publicly worried

about the show and its cast before thefirst episode aired.

Manchin asked MTV to cancel the show, telling the network’s president that itwould profit from the “poor decisions ofour youth” and that it played to ugly, inaccurate stereotypes about the peopleof West Virginia

fun.’s Jack Antonoff :

Straight, but not narrowA selection from an interview by Chris Azzopardi with the

band, fun.’s 28-year old guitarist, Jack Antonoff:

When and why did gay issues become so importantto you?

I wish there was a great story or a poetic answer, but Ijust don’t know how anyone could not be outspoken andenraged with any violation of human rights. Anyone who iseven remotely cognizant is speaking up and fighting forequal rights.

If fun. were a band 30 years ago and had come outin favor of gay rights, you probably would have jeop-ardized your career. What does it say about this timein our lives that you’re able to stand up and stillmaintain a significant fan base?

We get asked, “If you guys are gonna be political, do youworry you’ll be offending people who are coming to yourshows?” And the answer for us is, “Well, if anyone has aproblem with us, then they’re homophobic and hateful andwe’re glad to not have them come to our shows.” (Laughs)

There are a lot of queer people who look at “We AreYoung” as an anthem of liberation and individuality. How does it feel knowing you’ve written the themesong for a new generation of not just youth but queeryouth?

That’s just the coolest thing I’ve ever heard, because it’salways subcultures — it’s always people who are oppressed— that are the most vibrant. That’s part of the reason whyI feel so drawn to the gay community in general — the veryfact that there’s an opposition in general that creates anamazing community within the gay community. You can’treally find that anywhere else. It’s inspiring.

Were any of the songs on “Some Nights” writtenwith the gay community in mind?

Not initially and not directly, besides “One Foot,” whichtalks about being in the closet and the church and theoffensive things that come out of there. But these are songsabout feeling separate and about feeling pushed aside andfeeling down on yourself and pushing on. That’s the themeof the album. That’s the idea of all of it: carrying on andmoving on. “Carry On” speaks to the same issues that gaypeople go through, which is a lot of the same issues that alot of people go through. It’s just on a different scale. It’sabout having other people treat you like you’re less thanand finding a way to move on.
