SITE PLANNING RESULTS: BUILDING + SITE
1

3
Building elements were mostly located in three general locations in the park.
Building locations were guided by desires to:
• Create a better connection between the active and passive sides of the park
• Create better visibility of the building from the street
• Activate the Moss House
• Activate of the amphitheater
• Create better connections to the existing recreational elements
• Minimize impacts to park landscape and notable trees
• Create better relationships to the playgrounds
• Some teams removed the ball field from their plans, or replaced it with a multipurposefield.
• Some teams reduced the number of tennis courts or relocated them on the site, but all teams showed some form of tennis.
• The majority of teams kept the playgrounds close to their existing locations and a few teams relocated them to the Broadway side of the park.
• The meadow was generally left intact and augmented with furnishings and lighting.
• Many saw an opportunity to move the community gardens closer to the Moss House or the center of the park.
• There was a strong desire to activate the Southeast corner of the park where the amphitheater is located with program and better lighting.
SITE PLANNING RESULTS: PARK ELEMENTS
There were areas that were generally agreed to as “no-go” zones for the building. These included:
• The Northwest corner due to poor soils
• The basketball courts
• The Moss House
• The meadow and area around the creek
• The easement through the existing parking lot at the Southwest corner of the site
• Notableandsignificanttreesaccordingtothe arborist report
