Above all, SPK delivers three important key attributes to produce a strong competitive advantage.

Convenience Easy to open by hand and simple to reseal.

Confidence Our patented sealing technology maintains

the quality of the wine, ensuring it is delivered just as the winemaker intended it to be.

Contemporary SPK is easy to recognise and stands out

from the crowd, providing ‘cut through’ in a crowded retail environment.

Benefits of sPK

Winemaker• Preserves the sparkle in the wine • Will not taint or scalp

Marketer• Creates market differentiation • Suitable for traditional or contemporary

brands

Production• Cost competitive with cork, wire and hood • Reliable, efficient and robust to apply

Consumer• Safe and easy to open • Convenient reseal • Low environmental impact

Incorporating a foil barrier, our patent pending SPK closure consists of four integral components; a robust, tamper obvious CAP that holds the closure onto a standard crown-cork sparkling wine bottle, a COLLET which locks onto the bottle and is convenient to open and reseal, an inner metal FOIL which is a high quality CO2 barrier to prevent flatness and a flexible SEAL which provides a high pressure liquid seal preventing leakage under extreme conditions.

This unique design means that the closure does not require the additional cost of a hood to finish the packaging presentation and is available in a range of colours and branding options.

SPK can be applied by hand or at high speed using change parts for standard corking equipment.

SPK has undergone rigorous testing by Provisor & several global industry trial partners. A copy of the independent test report is available upon request.

SPK is safe and easy to open by hand. Peel the tear band to break the seal, lift the cap to release the closure for a traditional 'pop'. To close the bottle push the button into the cap until you hear it click and press SPK back onto the bottle for a secure reseal.

sPK has a low carbon footprint, can be reusedandisfullyrecyclable.

SPK has been designed with the environment in mind. It is reusable, recyclable and manufactured with less green house gas (GHG) emissions than many other alternatives.

ENVIRONMENT 1.3

RE-USE

SPK is resealable and we encourage consumers to save the closure and reuse it to reseal similar unfinished bottles.

REDUCE

SPK has been manufactured with minimal Green House Gasses (GHG) and is comparable with other standard wine closures.

A preliminary Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study of the manufacture of this closures in commercial quantities has shown that GHG emissions are projected to be:

SPK = 0.06 Kg CO2-e/unit

RECYCLE

SPK is made from low density polyethylene; one of the most commonly used plastics in the global food packaging industry.

The closures is coded with an international material identification code (4) and can be placed with other recycling items for regular council collection.

SPK is 100% recyclable. It can be discarded with other plastics to make recycled plastic materials such as plastic lumbar, for use in outdoor public furniture, bollards, retaining walls or fencing.

Days from Bottling

The technical performance of SPK on sparkling wine has been independently tested by Provisor & confidentially tested in-house by multiple Trial Partners for 12 months. All tests have been reviewed & assessed by the AWRI.

“In all of the testing to date the performance of SPK has been equal to or better than the standard cork sparkling closure.” (Dr. Darren Oemcke, CEO, Provisor)

A “Summary of all tests” report is available on our web site at zork.com.au

Bottling 5.1

Not all machines are alike. If the concept in this schematic does not suit your machine please contact your local sup-plier for a customised solution.

MEtHoDS

Semi-automatic - for short runs & trials (100-10,000 bottles), by hand placing closures onto the bottle and using a modified machine to press the closure onto the bottle.

Automatic - for production runs (>10,000 bottles), by adapting existing machines with simple change parts.

Machine Change Parts

Conversion of a standard bottling machine is made with the following;

Overhead feeder bowl orients and feeds the closures into a vertical cap chute.

A dispenser allows the bottles to “pick-off” a closure as it passes through (simi-lar to screw cap systems).

Change-over capping head presses the closure onto the bottle as the pedestal lifts the bottle into the centering dome.

Note: Corking jaws should be removed.

View 'SPK automated bottling' movie on YouTube.

SPK can be applied at high speed using change parts for standard capping equipment.

CAPPING HEAD 5.3

The Capping Head can be fitted to most machines via an ADAPTOR. Adaptors must be custom made to suit each machine to hold the Capping Head on centre with the bottle. One Adaptor is required for each head of your machine.

External dimensions must be machined to suit each individual bottling machine. Internal dimensions must be machined to the suit the SPK Capping Head. (Refer below).

3 schematic examples of adaptors are: A - Corker B - Screw Capper C - Poly-stopper or Crown Capper

Recommended top load forces: Min: 120kgf Max: 200kgf

The CAPPING HEAD for SPK replaces the centering cone or capping head of a bottling machine. It is designed to be easily adapted to suit most types of corking, screw capping, poly-stopper or crown sealing machines.

As the pedestal lifts the bottle, or the machine head lowers, the Capping Head gently presses the closure onto the bottle. The spring loaded pin holds the closure stable during the application process and ensures it is correctly applied to the bottle.

(see bottling video at zork.com.au)

NOTE: Capping Heads are specifically designed to control the application of SPK. We recommend the use of a "manufacturer approved" Capping Head available from your closure supplier. Use of an un-approved device may void warranties.

The SPK Capping Head can be adapted to fit most types of single or multi-head bottling machines
