Due to these straps, the arm blade cannot be disarmed. These straps also allow you to manipulate items out of combat, as if you’re wearing a small shield. Boarding Pike: This is a high utility polearm, designed for repelling boarders and cutting grappling lines. The spear tip may be set to receive a charge and the hook may be used to perform trip attacks. If you are tripped during your attempt, you may drop the boarding pike to avoid being tripped. The boarding pike does have the benefit of being a weapon with 10 feet reach. It however, suffers from the disadvantage of not being able to attack adjacent foes. Crescent Whip: A crescent whip is a 20 feet long tether of strong rawhide with a large crescent shaped blade affixed to the tip. Although you keep it in hand, treat it as a projectile weapon with a maximum range of 20 feet with no range penalties. Because the crescent whip can wrap around an enemy’s leg or other limb, you can make trip attacks with it. If you are being tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the whip to avoid being tripped. Due to this whip’s large size and awkward design, it gains no special bonus to disarm rolls. It costs a separate exotic weapon feat, unlike the whip dagger. Grapple Hook: Not typically thought of as a weapon, the grapple hook can perform as on in a pinch. Without a line, it can be used as a melee weapon and a thrown weapon. If tied to a line, its range is limited to the length of the line. If thrown, the character can draw it back as a move equivalent action. If using a chain for the line, instead of a rope, the extra weight gives a -2 circumstance penalty to hit. Remember to add the weight and the cost of the line to the grapple hook. The grapple hook can make trip attacks. If you are tripped during your own attempt to trip, you can drop the line to avoid being tripped. Slashdisk: The slashdisk is a steel plate, sharpened around the entire edge. A slit in the center allows the disk to be grasped safely. The slashdisk acts as a small, steel shield (+1 armor bonus to AC) with armor spikes, without having the spikes. It is also balanced for throwing.
