Words with endings that sound like /shuhs/
(spelt –tious or –ious)
Look at the words below, how do they all end?
Can you spell these words?
spacious malicious delicious ferocious
What sound did the ‘cious’ make?
They all made a /shus/ sound.
Put your finger to your lips and say /shus/.
Let’s have a look at two ways of making the same sound:
-tious -iousor
Working with someone at home with you, you’re going to go on a word
hunt! Use your brains, reading books or dictionaries to collect as many –
tious or –ious words as you can.
Collate them in a table like this:
