To request a test, use the provided Ovation portal, ensuring that all PHI is uploaded accurately into the database. For non-electronic requests, all specimens must be accompanied by a completed SoftCell Laboratories test requisition form. Sample Collection Use the Spectrum Solutions’ SDNA-1000 Saliva Collection Device kit as directed in the package insert (See figure to right). Saliva samples in the Spectrum Solution’s SDNA-1000 kit are stored at ambient temperature. All specimen tubes must include a patient’s name and date of birth. All specimens sent without these two patient-unique identifiers on the collection container will be rejected. If a saliva specimen cannot be collected for any reason, a nasopharyngeal specimen may be sent as an alternative. Visit the CDC webpage for current guidelines for respiratory specimen collection. Sample Rejection All unlabeled or improperly labeled samples; underfilled saliva samples; overfilled saliva samples; broken or leaking samples; NP swabs submitted at room temperature; samples collected in an expired transport media will be rejected for testing. Sample Shipment All specimens must be packaged and shipped in accordance with UN3373 Category B, infectious Substance requirements. Saliva and NP specimens should be shipped overnight using individual biohazard bags for each sample. All NP specimens must be kept refrigerated and sent on ice packs within 72 hours of collection. Turnaround Time Results are reported electronically using Ovation within 1 business day of receiving samples. Specimen Collection and Shipping Instructions 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), TF-COVID-19 Saliva Collection Kits

Test Ordering
